Sometimes in wuxia, fights are lost not due to inferior martial arts, but for the stupidest reasons. I think the cake-taker is Seung Gwoon Gum Hung (an otherwise smart guy) stupidly leaving himself wide open for Lee Chum Foon's dagger strike, which *everybody* knew was guaranteed to be on-target.
