    Deists and scientists: peaceful coexistence

I would very much like to know what people on this website think about peaceful coexistence between those who study our material world (scientists) and those who study our spiritual world (theologians). My attempt to write an essay on that subject failed, as you can see at:

    http://csam.montclair.edu/~kowalski/theology3.html

The webpage was prepared to generate a discussion. Those who post comments should refer to specific “contributions,” as numbered (or to specific persons, as numbered at the beginning). This will simplify the discussion.

And let us keep in mind that the main topic is peaceful coexistence. Is it possible? Is it desirable? What should we do promote it? etc.

    Thank you in advance,

Have not read the webpage. Too long.

What is peaceful coexistence? If it's 'I have my belief, you have your belief, but, we can live together peacefully', isn't this what deists and scientists are doing now?

People can agree to disagree and live in peaceful coexistence.

Well, many scientists are strongly rooted to their faith and many theologians are not cavemen who disregard science either. You made it sound as though the 2 are incompatible; which isn't really true.

I never said theologians are cavemen. Your word, not mine.

Your reply kinda match mine. So, it's very logical for me to assume you are replying to me.

Me: People can agree to disagree and live in peaceful coexistence.
You: You made it sound as though the 2 are incompatible; which isn't really true.

And you answer right after me.

    Sorry for misunderstanding.

i didnt think my response matched yours, or either that im missing something in what you posted; i figured the topic starter wanted a 'response' on the views so i gave mine.

i guess that's why people said "ASSUME" made an "A S S" of "U" and "ME"

Yes, many scientists and theologians live in peace, and respect each others. But conflicts between theists and atheists are very common. Most of them are neither scientists nor theologians.
