Haha bebe_girl, are you reading Shopaholic Takes Manhattan? Becky Bloomwood's image reminds me of Anne Hathaway. They are like, identical in my imagination.

Anne Hathaway's the main character in The Princess Diaries. She role is named Mia.

bebe_girl, does Becky Bloomwood the character annoy and irritate you in the first 2 books?

she did a couple of times like when she kept feeling sorry for herself after that article came out and just sometimes when she secretly shops. I espeically love that part when she accidently blurted out that she bought that scarf and how she said her aunt died.

I hate is when she throws away her bills and does nothing to it. Like when she walked pass a construction site or something and she threw he visa bills away. AHHa I hate her procrasination.

Different Women Dancing by Jonathan Cash. Has anyone read it? It's a Penguin mystery involving a female cardiologist and a male prostitute.

anna karenina by tolstoy. don't like the ending, but i guess it's necessary. though if it was up to me, i'd do happy ending for all!! and very wordy. goes into lots of unnecessary details. i don't need to know what a minor character's dog was thinking when he was going to fetch a bird that was just shot out of the sky.

    Thumbs down

I know what I'm not reading anymore, Lian Hearn's Otori Trilogy. I was close at finishing the 2nd book but I just can't stand the way he writes! I don't know why theres so many good reviews on it, it's too wordy with flowery embellishments, it drags on and on and the main character Takeo is a jerk. Kaede is a naive woman that have faith in Takeo too much when he's eh....stupid books. So no I'm not reading these books anymore. Waste of time. You know if the book is good or bad by the speed people read it. If it's good then you'll read it real fast and finish reading it very fast too. But if it's not good, then you'll take real long to read it.

Suet Seung, I gotta agree with you about the series. For certain reasons, I find myself struggling to finish the second book even though it's SO SHORT! The first book was fine, but there was something really wrong with the second one. I guess it's probably cos' I'm finding it increasingly difficult to relate to the characters (a necessity when reading books that are light in plot and heavier in character development)

    BTW: Lian Hearn's a woman.

Really? I could've sworn She's a he with the way she writes Takeo's character and the Lord Fujiwara or something and his lover Mamoru. I swear she uses many names from anime characters or something. I'm not sure if it's the era or because of her...but the men in the book are such arses and womanizing. I'm like near end of the 2nd book and I can't bring myself to read a page more. I give up on reading her book. It just sucks. Although I like the twist that Takeo is really Shigeru's nephew....it just that LH just takes her time with the description and adding all these flowery scenes and whatever but fail at entertaining and keeping the readers interested and amused with suspense and twists. Half of the time I'm bored to death with oh Kaede's worrying about Takeo again. oh no theres more suitors at the door where is Takeo?

There should be more twists in it. but she takes too much time on trivial stuff.

okay Becky is REALLY annoying me. Just make up your mind where you want the wedding and tell everyone. So irresponsible and careless.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the whole wedding thing. I don't even want to think about how fustrated I was when she kept on lying and pretend everything was fine. But read on to the end when it gets better.

Yeah, Lian Hearn's a pen name for um... something else. She was a children's writer, I believe, so maybe the transition to older readers might not be so smooth for her.

I already felt kinda uncomfortable when I saw Takeo sleeping with the other woman. "Er, hello? Dude, can't you be a wee bit more faithful?"

I finished it last night, stayed up until 1:00 reading it, so tired. I have to say Luke, he sounds so perfect to be true. Like every girl's dream guy. Rich, handsome, built, charming etc. lol I love guys who often keeps a straight face, and hard to tell how they're feeling. It's a good series i'd give it an 8/10.
