I am currently reading GREAT EXPECTATIONS by the esteemed and verbose Charles Dickens.

Despite the fact that Dickens was paid by the word, I rather like the book so far. Estella, the female lead, is very convincing and quite mean, and a good substitution for the usual "dream girl" as female lead.

I'm currently reading "Lord of Scoundrels" by Loretta Chase.

The book cover looks horrible (to me, anyway), but it's really a great read

I'm a sucker for romance novels, and this one supposedly topped the AAR's Readers Chart in '04. Needless to say, I've become pleasantly addicted

make sure you don't watch the movie, or the image of the book will be ruined forever.

ditto. movie completely butchered book. the book is much much better. I hated how the movie rushed the ending so much. it kinda came out of nowhere...somehow.

I heard that Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer are excellent. Also, Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause seems to be quite popular. So those will be the next books I read. It will only be the second time that I read books in English!!! Hope that those novels are not too hard to understand.

Blood and Chocolate was pretty good. .. At least when I read it back in 7th grade or whatever. I heard about Twilight and New Moon but they sound a little teenage and angsty. But if that's your thing then I guess you'll like them. I don't think any of those are really hard reads though.

Thanks for the reply... I like books for teenagers (oh naivety and pure sentiments!!), so I guess it is fine...

Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East: 1776 to the Present by Michael Oren.

It basically tells the unknown story of US-Middle East relations going back 300 years. Pretty interesting read to see how US foriegn policy started in the Middle East. Ex. Like The whole zionist movement was a US Christrian movement to have Jews in Israel.

Rereading THE CATCHER IN THE RYE by J.D. Salinger...I love this book. It's so meaningful and I think it has the most impact when you read it during adolescence.

Also finished reading ANTHEM by Ayn Rand (I wanted to read more of Rand's philosophy, but as usual I strongly disagree with it, but I'm sure some of you would love it).
