I finished reading that within 2 days, but I could've easily finished in one sitting in less than 2 hrs.
I'm reading Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy is quite attracted by Elizabeth Bennet's eyes. I like Mr. Bennet, he's cool. Mr. Bingley's sisters are snobs.
I just love how you Captivate My Mind

Finished Hermann Hesse's Narcissus and Goldmund - very, very good book. Thoughtful, touching, well-written.
Now I'm starting Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil.
Because I'm somewhere in between,
My love and my agony.
Finished two books by An Chee Min entitled Empress Orchid and The Last Empress. Quite entertaining and well written. However, the empress here is depicted positively in total contrast to popular belief. Now, I am confused as to what the truth is.
I am a pessimist, but I think people like me!

No, I have not. My preference is for material during Imperial times. Anything beyond the Qing Dynasty does not appeal too much to me. Even so, I find Factory Girls quite enlightening especially for the tenacity and resilience of the Chinese race, though it borders on over competitiveness.

Just finished a three book series by John Twelve Hawks. The books are: The Traveler, The Golden City, and The Dark River. Really good books about time travel in a mystical sort of way and includes Japanese sword fighting.
Now I'm looking to purchase all of the San Ichiro mystery books written by Laura Joh Rowland. Her book, The Samurai's Wife, is what got me interested in her other books.
My last Chinese type books that I read was written by Da Chen and they were amazing. Oh and I almost forgot, Cindy Pon who wrote Silver Phoenix: Beyond the Kingdom of Xia.

Michael Lewis
Describes the Oakland A's in the early 2000s and their quest to be successful by using sabermetric principles. In time, probably a portrayal of the ego of baseball executives who believed in their intelligence rather than their luck in having some of the best young players in the world.
Now being made into a film starring Brad Pitt.
Han Solo
Finally finished Beyond Good and Evil. Liked parts of it, not so much other parts. Though I particularly liked the last chapter, because it gave a very good glimpse into what Nietzsche was like as a person and I could sympathize with him well.
Now reading Ordinary Men by Robert Browning. Won't be easy.
Because I'm somewhere in between,
My love and my agony.
Reading 'Angels Among Us' by Don Fearheiley.
The front cover said they are true stories, but, the narration sounds fictional.
No matter what, it's still inspiring reading about Angel encounters. Reminds me of my mysterious encounter. I didn't see any angel, but, I was saved from a near death incident. This book make me regain a bit my believe of thing beyond.

currently reading The Big Short by Michael Lewis.
a book about the 2007-2008 economic downfall and where it is now.
Hatred is a curve blade. The harm we do to others, we also do to ourselves.
i tell you, some ppl argue for the sake of arguing.
I am reading, "At Hell's Gate: A Soldier's Journey from War to Peace" by Claude Anshin Thomas. It's an autobiography of a spiritual journey of healing undertaken by a Vietnam veteran who eventually became a Soto Zen monk.
I like me.

The only thing I need to know is that I don't know anything.
The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang. So far, I hate it. It's horribly written. If you want to write a book that's about a very significant event in history, try not to sound biased, hypocritical, and most of all, don't dramatize things. Like, just awful reporting and writing. Don't know if I'm going to be able to finish it.
I'm a bit disappointed that one of the few well-known books about the Nanking Massacre is this one.
