Default SKIP-BEAT!~ 華麗的挑戰 / Extravagant Challenge - Ivy Chen, Siwon Choi, Donghae Lee

Wasn't sure if I should have started this new thread. >.<" But now that the drama has been officially casted and announced, it might be better to start a more official titled thread. If the moderators would like to, they can merge the old thread with this one.

    Announcement by GTV: http://www.gtv.com.tw/News/20110303002/

However, Kyoko discovers that Sho only kept her around to act as his maid and to help him earn his living expenses. Feeling betrayed and heart broken, Kyoto vows for revenge by becoming a even bigger star than he is. Thanks for the update. Will the male stars will be Korean idols in the drama too? Looks like they might be changing the story a bit but either way, I'm glad they didn't use the original casting choices. Can't wait to see this!

Ivy Chen cuts her hair for the first time in 10 years for the role~

I'm uncertain if this is real or photo-shopped by a fan....but it looks fairly good regardless:

Poster for Lee Donghae's character, Sho, since he is supposed to be a star.

Leaked 3 min trailer. Obviously not a finished product since the actors weren't dubbed etc etc:

Thanks for sharing! Looking good. I see they seem to have replaced the local stars with Korean stars. But that won't explain why Kyoko grew up with a Korean guy. Unless they're gonna alter that too. Either way, can't wait to see it!

Not much discussion for this series... Anyone else watching this? I thought it was pretty exaggerated for a drama, but I guess that fits the original manga and anime. Can't wait to see how it'll progress!

Love the manga, but I'm not very sure about this... Somehow live actions always fall short. Maybe that's the distinction between reality and fantasy.

As handsome as Siwon is, he doesn't really suit the character of Ren.

I caught the first episode when it aired...without subs.

It was okay, very over the top CG.

The acting was okay, there's nothing much to work with yet since they are just setting up the basis of the story. I hope they will tone down some of those annoying antics.

Siwon's dubbing is going to be changed, since the one now is a bit to warm. I always thought Ren would sound more manly and a bit cold.

    Watching this as well.

Up to episode 2 for me.

The over the top CG is unfortunately part of the original manga, with ghost etc.

The girl (Ivy Chen ) seems pretty good but Siwon Choi seems miscast as the main male protagonist.

The original manga has been translated to chapter 183.

I read part of the story but gave up since it was taking to long to develop.

I was reading old news about this. Looks like Ren was supposed to be play by Jerry Yan and Kyoko was suppose to be played by Ariel Lin.

I don't mind Ivy, I think she fits better then Ariel Lin. Though I think they are both too old to play Kyoko. Both being 29. Had this gone ahead three years ago it wouldn't have been so bad.

I'm not to sure if I like Siwon either, seems to lack the coldness of Ren that I had always envisioned. Jerry may have been a better fit.

    Donghae's Sho I'm indifferent too.

I guess thats one of the issues when someone goes ahead to make a manga one likes into a live version. Their never really as you imagined them to be. ISWAK, DBY, Mars, Metro Garden...these were okay since I've never seen the source material before the series was made.

Watching the third episode right now, the gags are getting out of hand and is hampering the story-telling, which believe it or not, is a forte of the Skip Beat manga.

    Sigh.

Anyone know what the rating is for this series?

    Ratings for this series
    Episode 1: 1.35
    Episode 2: 1.17
    Episode 3: 0.97
    Episode 4: 1.18

Its not doing too good though I think in terms ratings it's still beating Ring Ring Bell.

I had given up this drama at episode 3 since nothing seems to be going anywhere and the CG was really getting to me. Does episode 4 get any better?

Those are two series I'm staying away from.

Skip Beat Live Drama here is just not working for me. I love Skip Beat as an anime and a manga, but cannot bear to watch it even if it has Choi Siwon and Lee Donghae. Somethings that are fine in the anime/manga,but look horrible and cringeworthy onscreen. I wanted to see the Kyoko that surprises people by her incredible acting skills (of getting into character so well), but I just can't wait for that. There's so much silliness. I watched episode one and barely made it to the end. I don't think I'd put myself through that again even though three more episodes came out. Can't do it.
I just love how you Captivate My Mind

Oh its not so bad if you give it time...I think any film given time with allow you to find at least one redeeming feature.

at this point, Skip Beat isn't doing it for me, but I shall wait till the end and watch Ivy Chen release the waterworks and decide if I want to invest time in the rest of the series.

Ring Ring Bell has Peter Ho. Who I've always found hot.

I'm starting to like it more and more despite the overdone silliness. Looking forward to when Kyoko acts in the Angel MV! By the way, I think Moko is done really well. Perfect casting!
