Trust me, it sounds lame, but once you understand the rules and inner workings (which takes only 1 game etc) it is an awesome game. You will get to learn more about the other forum members (at least their true self) through this game than any other thread. It is interactive. It is cerebral but also requires EQ in the ability to manipulate others. And there is nothing more fun than lynching someone for the sake of lynching. The more players there are, the better it is. And when the game is over, you can go over people's posts again for some lol

Once I was the narrator while playing with my friends. I made everyone townies. Then I started killing people off randomly at night. The confusion was hilarious as people geniunely argued for themselves. Until they found out and banned me for a game.

We should PM active members like PJ and Ken

No worries. This isn't a "computer game" type of game. It's more of a social game based on words and mind games. It's pretty easy to pick up once you go through it once. I think you'll be excellent .

Plus, I've never played this game across the internet before so we'll all have to kinda go through a learning/adapting phase together .

Also, how much time you want to spend on the game is really up to you. You arn't required to make up elaborate explainations or debates .

The most complex 'mind game' I've played is that 'who is the killer' game where the murderer skillfully wink at people to kill them off while others have to guess who the killer is before he/she kills everyone off.

This game looks very complex compared to that.

I don't think be good at it. But, I'll give it a try. No harm trying. Count me in.

The only thing I'm concerned about is that in the real game, ppl who die become pretty irrelevant since they can't speak. But real games don't usually last days or weeks. So, we'll have to find a way to keep the people who are killed off still engaged in the game .

My memory is still sketchy, I'll revisit the old games I played to refresh myself on how it was done, but basically:
We decide on the apropriate ratio of mafia to townies for the numbers that are playing, at this rate it's probably 2-3 mafia maximum. they'll probably get 1 kill between all of them per night so they'll have to vote on who to kill and PM me.
At the start I'll post the introduction setting the scene, the people will vote for the mayor on the first day. Once he's voted he can choose someone to lynch.
All discussion will be done on this thread. People will clearly state who they're voting to lynch. This will be done publicly to add to the game tension so you can't hide your vote.
During the night the mafia will select their kill, detectives and other roles will do their job.
The following morning the mafia kill will be announced, I'll write up a story about it leaving some obscure clues in the story for people to guess. These clues could be about anything, from the person's avatar, signature, personal traits, anything. They'll be obscure at the start, but be less deceptive if the mafia are winning towards the end of the game. This should lead to alot of discussion and accusations. Red herrings in the clues will abound. The dead members will be made clear what their roles were if they were townies, detectives or mafia.
Then the voting for lynching will continue based on this supposed clues.
This will continue until the number of mafia are equal to the townie population, in which case the mafia win. Or the townies kill all the mafia before then.

I'll give maybe 2-4 days for each day cycle to pass so that everyone can get their vote in. Unless everyone's already casted their vote earlier then I'll continue the cycle as soon as I'm able.

Dead players shouldn't really engage in the discussion after they're dead because they might have been killed because they were guessed correctly who the mafia were, but maybe there's some way we can fit them in. It's not like they'll be totally bored. They'll still want to know who's gonna die next. And being an online forum, you can just carry on like normal until the next game. But maybe we can think of something.
