    Default Animals in JY Stories

After reading another except of Fox's DOMD in the translation forum, it just clicked how much JY used snakes in his novels.

Guo Jing and the giant snake (blood)
    Condor vs. the giant snake
    Yang Guo and snake bladders
    The Golden Snake Sword/Gentlemen
    Snake pits
DOMD - Divine Dragon (snake) Cult

Does he use other animals much? Only other recurring one is the poison toad.

He had two special horses: Guo Jing's Little Red Horse and Yang Guo's Old Yellow Horse, which he stole from an abusive owner.

Guo Jing's 3rd master also had a special good horse named Wind Chasing Yellow.
In Xiakexing Shi Qing and Min Rou had a couple of horses which specially matched them - one black with white hooves and the other white with black hooves.

With regard to snakes Ouyang Ke had a whole truckload of kelefe snakes, while Ouyang Feng had a special one which lived in his staff.

Other animals which come to mind are Zhong Ling's vorpal squirrel, Song Qun's twin panthers, Ah Zi's little freezing centipede, Yideng's fisherman disciple's little fish, the monkey Luo Duono was tied to for the rest of his life, the shark who survived Ouyang Feng's poison due to the wedged mouth and the pack of wolves which ate Zhang Jizhong.

The ape that had the Jiu Yang Zhen Jing sewn to its stomach. The nine-tailed fox (or something) that lived with Ying-gu in the later part of ROCH. Xiaolongnu's bees. The rats in Di Yun's (or Bao Xiang's) soup. Gouzazhong's beloved dog, A'Huang.

Did XLN really live with the bees in the tomb or the tomb's back yard? I guess I would need to include Zhu'er's spider in HSDS.

There's also that scorpion from ADS who seemed really deadly.

Then there's the centipedes Hong Qigong and Yang Guo ate on the mountain before the epic Hong Qigong/Ouyang Feng battle.

So far snakes still outshow all other animals, with horses being second. However, I feel like horses were modes of transportation.
