During the Six-Day War, Israel mobilized 99% of its entire air force to attack the combined air forces of Egypt, Syria and Jordan, leaving only 4 interceptors behind to guard their airspace. They pretty much won on the morning of the 1st day itself.

The real key to waging war doesn't lie in how much of your forces you commit, but how you deploy them.

But that was just the air force...

I wasn't so much refering to the total number of troops mr. King of Pan decided to use vs. Donghai's numbers, but that he basically allowed all his troops (>80%) to leave the kingdom to attack. Even if Israel used 99% of it's troops, it knew that if it ever failed, big brothers US & other Euros will help. Pan still has another active war going on and as "close" as it is to Xiwu, it is not dependent on Xiwu the way Israel was on its "big brothers".

So if Xiwu, Xiang or some other states and kingdoms decided to take advantage of Pan...serves him right

Considering the borders, it looks like only Xiwu is in the position to take advantage. Donghai and Xiang (unless Xiang somehow manages to spring a surprise...) have their hands tied up and goody-two-old-shoes Nanxi is too far south to do anything even if they want to.

Not true. The US was at that time heavily involved in the Vietnam war, and did not want to commit to another war elsewhere, On the other hand, the Soviet Union, which backed the Arab states, actually put its forces on standby at the Turkish border should the Arab states be in danger of complete destruction. Israel won because of superior everything, all the way from strategy to logistics to training.

At this stage, it would not benefit Xiwu to turn on Pan, because Xiang and Donghai can also use the situation to their advantage and turn the tide on Pan. This way, even if Pan collapses, Xiwu, Xiang and Donghai can only get about 1/3 share of Pan's territories each. On the other hand, Xiwu needs Pan to help annex Donghai, in which case Xiwu and Pan can get about 1/2 share of Donghai each.

Pan is not getting 1/2 of Donghai. Unless Xiwu is betting on the King of Pan killing Prince Ying or something to absorb Donghai. So far I don't see the Xiwu entourage in the Pan palace trying to influence the King to do so.

But in any case, if they do manage to influence the King of Pan to want to absorb (or he himself decide to do so) even after Prince Ying becomes King, a full-blown war between Pan and Donghai will happen.

Anyway, maybe I can get Lan Tianying to notice Old Sexy.

Anyways, the guys who are not supposed to be there - Old Sexy, WAL-D, Plague, Two-Stooges, etc. - aren't they leaving soon? If they're still not moving then I'm gonna attack anyway, and they can enjoy fighting with an army they hate.

I'm surprised at how quickly and easily Xiangyang was taken. You'd think the soldiers and generals guarding the borders against Xiwu would be more competent even if their situation was out of surprise. Instead they sounded more like a bunch of untrained civilians conscripted into the amy at the last minute. So much for powerful Donghai armies.

But it does looks like what I thought would happen had happened. Poor Mr. Zhou had his work cut out.

Until Old Sexy and his groupie moves off, I suppose the scene's stuck, unless they are going to march on to Shouchun too. And since you've already made the attacking post, we will have to do a bit of catching up later then.

    Lousy equipment.

Wait... so that means the group has to follow the army? o.0

That's what I mean... when you are guarding against a strong enemy at an important location, it's disconcerting that the equipment you have is lousy.

Well, until they leave the army, that scene can't move. Or we can move ahead on the pretext they decided to follow the army a little bit more.

Xiwu never used such siege arrows before in their old incursions against Pan. Naturally Xiangyang was not prepared for this and so General Yun was shocked at the effectiveness of the new weapons. Bai Qi of Qin sprang the same thing on Zhao during the Warring States Period. Nothing new.

Xiwu's military doctrine follows the Blitzkrieg of WW2, not the trench warfare of WW1.

Xiwu sounds a lot more dangerous now.

The King of Pan will be truly stupid if he still doesn't get his guards up.

.... Or is he really stupid?

That seems a lot more effortless than Xiwu capturing Xiangyang. =/

Edit: Wait... what! Prince Pi is dead?! I thought Xiwu would want to hold him as a hostage. Looks like Cutie Pie is gonna skin Zhao Yu's butt...

    Which one? The surrender?

At least Pan is happy about it.

If you need the little prince, you can always resurrect him. The messenger could be mistaken or somehow he truly believed the prince's dead. Or maybe the killing was an accident e.g. Prince Pi fought back and Zhao Yu accidentally stabs him to death.

It looks like it was the one who had many concubines and too busy eating to care about the invasion. Can't remember his name. Was it Sima Ren? :O
