The drama seems very good. Love Hawick Law from Sealed With The Kiss. The filming starts in December 2012 so it may be aired in Mid 2013 that's very very long waiting ((.
Love to see more updating about the drama.

Sorry I did a typo I think the filming actually starts in Nov 2011. Check out this Chinese article ~ http://yule.sohu.com/20110829/n317694391.shtml

Oops sorry, I will correct this, so we should be able to watch this drama sooner rather than later.

That's great! Can't wait to watch one more drama adapted from Fei Wo Si Cun novel with Hawick Lau. Two new Hawick's dramas coming out next year are period series and he play the King. Have you read Spring's Night novel?

I haven't read the novel for this particular drama, but somehow a bald-headed Hawick doesn't sound too attractive to me. We'll see.

I've never seen Hawick with half bald. I won't ask for more if he looks as handsome as Nicky Wu How is the novel? Is the storyline interesting?

@Pipap - I know how to read Chinese well but this novel is written in the ancient styled Chinese. I found it hard to read/absorb. There were loads of references that I couldn't quite understand thus I couldn't engage with the storyline at all. It's strange as I have read WuXia novels and it was fine for me to understand. I just found this novel difficult to comprehend; a real shame I couldn't read this, I read BBJX the novel and it was fine, but somehow this one, I dropped it after 5 chapters. Maybe I will attempt it later on. As for the other Hawick Lau drama, I think he plays "Huang Tai Ji" whom I think was the first Manchurian Emperor, the guy that took over the Ming Dynasty, that would be an nteresting role since "Huang Tai Ji" was viewed as quite a polarisng figure from a historian's point of view and they hadn't been a lot of TV portrayal of the historial person.

@ JoleCole- they deleted your thread? em...to be honest I check to see if a post was created on this drama :P, the other Hawick Lau series "Yu Yi" with Yang Mi is supposed to be released soon, was wondering if there will be a post on that as well. Anyways, perhaps 2012 is the year of Hawick

I just found this on willaim_peng's weibo (twitter). He is one of the screen writers. He participated in BBJX and in weibo you can see the constant communication between him and the cast of BBJX. Original link: http://weibo.com/1175123083/xy4JR3WsT

So he basically said Yuan Hong will be in the cast. He said that he finally have Yuan Hong in his hands and he will torture Yuan Hong. Muhahahaha.

Awesome Yuang Hong is playing the second lead, how sad, he may not get the girl again...but I like Yuan Hong a lot more than Jones Xu.

I am looking forward to this series!

Yeah, after watching quite a few of his Qing series, I really liked his acting in Qing (although I'm not a fan of the half-bald look). I think at first they were having some problems with YH's scheduling as he's busy filming Mulan in Dunhuang, so Jones Xu was their other choice, but looks like YH can join the "Chun Wan" set in Dec after all.

I'm not sure about Hawick in the Qing half-bald look though... maybe it's a matter of getting used to it, like we all got used to Nicky Wu bald in BBJX. Haha!

...well, I'm *still* not used to Nicky's bald look. He just doesn't look as natural with the Qing hairstyle than the other princes...some guys are just meant to have hair, y'know? I think Hawick may be one of those guys too...same with Hu Ge...

The novel is written in a mock-Dream of red chamber style (Hong Lou Meng), so the prose can be difficult to understand, but is very beautiful/eloquent and poetic. "Chun Wan" is the first FWSC novel that I read, and remains one of my favourite, not so much for the book itself, because the plot itself is nothing spectacular, but mainly for the writing. But whilst I love the narration style, but it is slow and makes it harder to relate to the characters, so I can see why some people would not like it. Also the characters are very restrained (for lack of a better word), in the sense that everyone abides by the set norms of the time and no one has an outlandish personality. This makes Chun Wan one of the rare internet novels that remains true to the era, and is another reason why I love it so much. But to people who are more used to exciting dramatic stories, they may find it a little boring.

Oh, so the novel is a slow-moving mood piece? It will be interesting how they will adapt it into a TV series, especially for Hunan TV which tends to pander to popular taste.

Why is YH always the second or third? I would love to see him as the lead one of these days. He's got the looks and acting chops to pull it off.

I remembered YH himself stated that he preferred playing 2nd/3rd instead of male leads in series for some reason....

What? That sounds really unbelievable since all actors want to play the best role, which is usually the lead. Though I can understand if he would rather play a supporting role that's interesting than star in a really bad series. Maybe he said that because he hasn't been given the chance yet to play the lead. Somebody needs to give him that chance!

In Chinese Dramas, the supporting role tend to be more interesting with being either an anti-hero or villain or someone who's morally ambiguous. The main role is usually a hero where you're kind of limited in what you can do.

Maybe leading roles bear too much responsibility? In supporting roles, you can be more carefree. I am the same type of person as Yuan Hong LOL--I hate being first and prefer being 2nd lead in activities. However, I hate being 3rd lol dependent on who is before me anyway.
    I like me.
