This series just gets better and better. Good thing I waited till Sunday to watch all 5 eps included from fri and sat cuz they were short. I just love how for the first time in a series; there is as much as good people as there is bad people, Lu zhen gets all these protection and she doesn't suffer alone, and there is no sibling rivalry. Gao Zhan is seriously good looking! Loved it when he keeps on teasing Lu Zhen. I can't help but smile when he smiles too.

I feel so bad for Gao Yan. Poor guy...his mom is a power-hungry witch, he's weak with an incurable illness, he spends half of his life yearning after a girl who dislikes him, he's not as talented as his younger brother, and to top it off he's thrown into a role he clearly doesn't want. Despite all this he's still a nice guy.

Ep 18-20 were great. I loved watching the flashbacks. Huanyun was such a cutie before her life got turned upside down.

I must say, Gao Zhan is one fashionable lad. He has more outfits than almost all the girls and he's wearing something new every few episodes.

Gao yan is such a poor thing during the flash backs! Does anyway think Lu Zhen over-reacted to the discovery of Gao Zhan's real identity? I wonder how she will react tothe discovery of Gao zhan and gu fei' past!

Anyway i cannot wait to know how Gao Zhan and Lu Zhen makes up from this argument! You guys reckon we will finally get a kiss? Gao zhan 's already kissed lu zhen on the forehead...its about time he venture further south....

But from the previews, it appears that Gao zhan will be returning with Lady Shen who's another love rival with Lu Zhen and his sister who doesnt like Lu Zhen...poor girl, as though Shen Bi and Su gui fei isnt bad enough...

Isnt the last picture showing Gao zhan with shen shimin who likes lu zhen too? Am guessing the way both looks at the person on the bed, they must be looking at Lu Zhen...guess someone tried to kill her again...

I think Lu Zhen is based on a historical character, but I can’t find any information on her online. I wonder if SARFT would’ve allowed this drama to air if Lu Zhen was completely made up. Too much messing around with history, I reckon, especially with having a female prime minister.

Haha of course Lu Zhen is going to overreact. How else will we get more episodes and more heart-wrench between the two? In a serious note, however, I can kind of see where she’s getting at. It winds down to:

1)    Knowing and loving someone for that amount of time and realizing you don’t even know his real name! Plus, everyone is in the loop except her. Makes her feel even more of a fool.

2)    In the palace, she only trusts Yang GuGu and Ah Zhan. Such a huge amount of trust, and yet Ah Zhan feeds her one of the biggest lies he could make up.

3)    There were several opportunities for Ah Zhan to come clean. Particularly, when Ah Zhen asked him why she couldn’t find him where the body guards were at. He told another lie, and she did say she was afraid he’d turn out to be a liar….

I don’t think Ah Zhen will react the same way with his and Huanyun’s history, though. She seems more sensible than that…or at least I hope she is. I think it’s more about a breach of something very personal to her than just uncertainty about his love or whatnot.

Anyway, I hope Shen Jiayan appears soon! Maybe today or tomorrow? Did anyone notice the actor who plays him (Li Jichun) also played Cao Zhi in Three Kingdoms 2010? He cleaned up much more nicely in this show.

From what Gao Zhan said to Gao Yan, I get the sense that him being the heir to the throne is a main component of why she's rejecting him now as well. It's something that goes beyond the lying and actually makes this an issue of his identity. She would have been content with the royal bodyguard, but rejects the idea of being in a relationship with someone who may in the near future become the emperor. I think it's logical given that being the wife of the emperor automatically stamps a particular identity and lifestyle that removes a lot of freedom of choice, particularly given her prospects of becoming a true female official on par with the male officials. Wang Shang Yi mocking Lu Zhen as a future concubine when she realizes Lu Zhen is unaware of Gao Zhan's identity further puts this into perspective as a role that Lu Zhen does not find desirable. I get the sense that if Lu Zhen had known his identity in the beginning, she would most likely not have given him a chance at all.

I think knowledge of Huan Yun and Gao Zhan's relationship may be an even bigger blow given that Lu Zhen supposedly looks so much like Huan Yun. Based on that resemblance alone, there could be a lot of questions in regards to whether or not she's a replacement. It's also a bit iffy since while Gao Zhan denies that he still feels anything for Huan Yun, I feel like he took a bit too long to push her away. There's also the issue with him keeping that collection of Guan Yin statues still and that he even purchased another while together with Lu Zhen. Though I don't doubt that he loves Lu Zhen for being herself, I think it is still somewhat dubious whether or not he's completely over Huan Yun at this point, particularly since he seems to have forced himself to move on due to his respect for his older brother rather than himself losing interest.

I actually strongly dislike Huan Yun for the way she treats Gao Yan. The hurtful remarks she made to him as a child and the insulting way she refers to him to others were both really shocking to see. I mean it's one thing not to accept his feelings, it's another to be so unnecessarily disrespectful to someone who treats you so well. Not to mention, he was so happy that she accepted his marriage, and she threatens him with a knife on their wedding night? It just seems like such an absurd way to treat someone who wholeheartedly has been in love with her and has done nothing but show her the utmost respect.

I'm only halfway through ep 20, so perhaps more has been revealed that I have yet to see, but yikes! So much is happening!

Hmm good point. This issue didn't cross my mind as I was thinking about this. You're right...he took way too long to push her away. I'm glad he was able to make a clear and distinct cut from Huanyun on the wedding night, but I wish Gao Zhan had stronger words for her when she threw herself at him. As in, he should've made it much more clear how much he cares for Lu Zhen...I felt his reaction (compared to the snowy night scene) was lukewarm at best.


I think Huanyun's knife might have been there to ward off Gao Yan's 'advances' as well? hahaha...


Anyway, from today's previews for tomorrow episodes, it seems like Ah Zhan and Ah Zhen reconciled pretty quickly. I haven't watched today's episodes yet so there may be things I'm missing, but I'm not sure how I feel. I guess I'm glad they didn't drag on the whole thing, but I hope Ah Zhan learns a good lesson from this...

I honestly wish Huan Yun thought of Gao Yan as being strong enough to be a threat (as weird as that sounds, haha)! It seriously bothers me whenever she refers to him as a coward, girlish and weak, a sickly ghost or pinpoints how inferior he is in every which way compared to his little brother. I mean he's already sick, she doesn't need to be mean about it. And he always just quietly takes it all... sigh.

It's also a bit frustrating that she believed she needed to threaten him to get him to tell Gao Zhan that she only married him to gain her father military reinforcement against the coup d'etat in Liang. Since they grew up together, she should know his character well enough to know he wouldn't hide something like that just to keep her. I mean he's the type to even straightforwardly request Gao Zhan to elope with her since that's what she wants. I don't think I've ever seen something like that before. A man requesting with such ferver to the man his wife really loves to take her and run.... and being rejected by that same man due to such logical reasons. LOL.

Ah well, looking forward to watching 21+ later tonight!! Glad to hear things take a turn for the better! My phone app keeps skipping the previews...
