Failan is good.. I enjoyed it. However.. if you are Chinese from Mainland China.. may get little offended. Since it is about chinese girl trying to settle with Korean bum by fake marriage in Korea to make money.
Failan is good movie period. I don't think Chinese Mainland will get offended, unless off course some people who are very narrow minded and over sensitive, who exist in every society. A movie is a movie, especially when a movie depicts a real life story, or something like it.

Some pictures from FRIEND, the most famous, recent Korean gangster movie. Jang Dong Geon is just a one cool guy in this movie. The climax is intense and at the same time, very artistic, just like any other recent Korean movies.

Failan is based on Japanese Novel.. so I am looking forward to read that as well.

Why don't we change this topic title to "Recommended Korean Movie"?

This is not just for Korean movies only, but for all other Non-Chinese Asian movies, including Korean, Philippino, Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Middle-Eastern, Indian, Singaporean (although this can be considered Chinese as well). It just happens that there are a lot of excellent movies from South Korea lately.

Wow ! this movie rocks !
It will totally changed your views about muay thay. Forget Van Damme in KickBoxer !! *blah*

The story itself actually kinda cheesy and predictable, but the fighting scenes were awesome, Tony Ja did some cool moves there, great kick, and some deathly elbow moves.

I heard that Ong Bak II will be produced by Luc Besson.

This is definitely a good movie; I've watched it many years ago.

    THE CHAMPION

It's a true life story of Korean's famous boxer, Kim-Deuk-Gu. It's the story about his strugles and thriumphs. He won the Asia-Pacific Championship and later, went on for the biggest fight of life against Mancini the World Champion in Las Vegas.

    Here goes:

    Rashomon (1950)
    The Samurai Trilogy
    Yojimbo
    Sanjuro
    Red Beard
    Kagemusha
    Ikiru
    Taboo
    The Seven Samurai
    High and Low

That's it off the top of my head. More later. meh. Enjoy life. Try to watch as many non-Chinese Asian movies as possible. I've probably seen hundreds these past 3 years. Some are unforgettable. Some life defining. Some unmemorable because I can't remember them.

The Quiet Family tells an inspiring story about how a crisis helps to strengthen the bonds between the members of a dysfunctional Korean family. All the weird and very absurb, and somewhat whacky incidents actually brings them closer together in a rare display of domestic solidarity.

The list of events and incidents represented in this South Korean black comedy includes murder, dumping the corpses into shallow graves, and just like what the title of the move says.... staying quiet about it.

    the story:
Mother and daughter are on a bus trip when an accident happens. Mother dies. Daughter lives. However when daughter wakes from her coma, it's really the mother's spirit/soul. Thus, daughter on the outside, mother on the inside. And how the husband/dad struggles with his feelings for his wife whom he loves yet he can't bring himself to treat her as his wife because it is his daughter whom he sees. It's a heart-rending story that touches upon issues of incest, what is acceptable, what is not, etc.

Any ideas as to the title?

That sounds like one messed-up movie, but interesting premise. I swear to God...only Asians can come up with these kinds of things.
