    Yep, I'd recommend The Grave of the Fireflies as well. Or Princess Mononoke (also anime).

    ...ing and My Sassy Girl from Korea are also good.

    That dumb boy should not have left his aunt place,its not like she kick them out or something. Anyway their suffering are nothing compared to wat happened to the chinese during the japanese invasion

    My Sassy Girl and My Tutor Friend is the best Korean Movie IMO

    As for Japanese I would say Ringu1, Detective Conan and Studio Ghibli

    Fukada Kyoko did about 5 seconds on Ringu 2 but Ringu 2 was only an ok movie!

    Thai Film (Horror/ Ghost) called "Shutter". Anyone else seen it?

    I can also recommend another called "The unborn". Out of all the Thai horrors I've seen, these two definitely rank the highest (although they seemed to have borrowed alot of the pale-long-stringy-hair-heavy-on-the-eyeliner-female-ghost from the Japanese. I suppose a decent-looking-clean-shaven-man-ghost just doesn't have the same effect!! )
    Yeah I seen both of those and they WERE pretty scary alrite..I thought "The Unborn" was scarier and have any of you guys saw "Ju-oh" I think that how you spell it..It's "The Grudge"...japanese version..I heard the american version sucks..

    Just my thoughts, my recommendations would be:

    Korean
    Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - a real twisty plot of taking a real excruciating revenge
    Typhoon - Face off between a blaming-South-Korean-for-the-destruction-of-his-family bitter terrorist and a ltorn-between-sympathy-and-loyalty South Korean Intelligence Officer
    Taekgukgi - Sacrifice of a man who would do anything~absolutely anything, for his little brother's survival
    2009 : Lost Memories - South Korean police officer goes back in time to change the fate of his country

    Thai
    Legend of Suriyothai - A biography of the life of a queen who fought in battle (and the palace) alongside her husband and eventually dying in saving him

    Japanese
    Ju-On 1 and 2 - A hateful spirit haunting a house that devours souls to feed its hunger for revenge
    Battle Royale 1 - A group of middle-school students kidnapped under a crazy legal Act and ordered to kill each other in under 3 days to be able to come out alive as the last one standing.
    The Doll Master - A group of men and women invited to a mansion to become models for life-sized dolls finds themselves in a maze of mysterious deaths
    Da One and Only,

    Survive Style 5+

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.neverhappened.org/photos/uncategorized/survivestylereika.jpg')

    Survive Style 5+ consists of five interweaving and irrelevant stories. 1) Aman (cult favorite Tadanobu Asano) had just killed his wife (Reika Hashimoto) and buries her in the forest. He returns to their house, only to find her sitting at the kitchen table alive and well - and that's just the beginning. 2) Yoko (Kyoko Koizumi, presumably not related to the prime minister) is a commercial executive who constantly amuses herself with her zany commercial ideas that she records into her handy tape recorder. Unfortunately, they fail to impress neither her hypnotist lover (Hiroshi Abe) nor the clients. 3) A businessman just scored rare tickets to see the hypnotist's show with his seemingly perfect family. 4) Vinnie Jones (from Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, among others) plays a British hitman who shows up at the hypnotist's show with translator Yoshiyoshi Arakawa and indirectly changes the life of the aforementioned perfect family. 5) Three punks wander around the city breaking into people's houses, but they find bigger problems when sexual confusion is thrown into the mix. And all of this is only the first 15 minutes!

    Watch the Shutter. It is very good. Reminds me of One Hour Photo though.

    King Naresuen:

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.ethaicd.com/l_m_kingnaresuan.jpg')

    This is the latest epic from Thailand, following "Suriyothai". This movie is a triology and only the first two have been released so far, and I have to say they were done really well, now I'm not into history movies but I really like this so I strongly recommend it. I can't wait for the last part to be released.
