Anyway with/without the rating news...SOTD definitely one of my fave drama, but I shld admit, what make me love this drama, more because of the Wei WuJi and XiaoYue.

I notice WJ touched/pinched XY's cheek a lottttt, and I love it as it's such an intimate gesture that clearly shows how much he adores her. And LSS looks very cute whenever Eddie messes with her face, which happen more times than I can count lol. Now, wonder how much of that is by instruction or by his improvisation/reflexes. But I did see Eddie did that before with his other co-star. And this guy just has stars shooting out of his eyes. The way he looks at XY is so loving and swoon-worthy. He is such a natural romantic lol *drools*

Eddie's excellent portrayal of the brash, seemingly arrogant, overly confident, and hopeless romantic General Wei has ruined all Chinese heroes for me. I will never get over this character. I don't want to!

You know, about this whole "SOTD is not successfull enough" business: It's really difficult to compare SOTD with BBJX popularity, ratings are exremely subjective, there are many things you have to take into the account and there is no logic in them whatsoever,. IT's like comparing the ratings of kdramas: For instance, Moon That Embraces the Sun was close the 50% mark whereas Secret Garden or You WHo Came From the Stars were close the 30% - the last two dramas were far better quality-wise but there is still the 20% difference. It's not because the latter two would be less popular because the internet buzz had been huge for all three dramas.

I think that there is a small group of haters and biased viewers who spread these rumours without submitting facts in order to bash the show. As @ILoveMimiLo has already mentioned several times the show is objectively extremely popular on streaming sites and search engines as are the actors, however, the TV ratings are strong too and have been increasing with each episode, even re-runs score high ratings. PLus the number of the followers at SOTD Weibo account is one of the highest amongst cdramas, both airing and completed. I find that SOTD is doing extremely well even with all the adversity and delays and changes it has to face because let'S face it all the things that happened to this show border on illegal discrimination and censorship; BBJX didn't have to wait almost 3 years to be allowed to get an airing slot, nor did Lan Ling Wang and that show was even bigger slap in the history face than Da Mo Yao could ever been. So don't feel down because of some false information, just google translate this baidu thread which has been documenting SOFD ratings and popularity stats since the first episode :-). This is the truth, the ultimate proof and the hard facts and those don't lie ;-)

Thank you Briseis! Jaynestar member for some reason most of the member are not LSS fans, and usually critic her every chance they get. I personally think she is doing a fantastic job! Many may cringe at her cuteness, I actually love it! Every opinion is subjected. Sound of the desert is not flawless, but it keeps people watching and talking about it, pretty successful, even with all the delay and not being aired during Prime time, the series has been rank top 5 on hunanTV since it aired. It is being aired in Korea right now, moving to HK, Taiwan in DEC and next year to Japan. The show is differently a hit! Oh yes not to mention one of the most viewed and talked about thread on Spcnet. Pretty cool for not being unrelated to Gu long or Jin Yong

Actually I don't think fans or non fans should be too bothered by ratings or critics. There are always plenty of "lovers and haters". Well BBJX was phenomenal but BBJQ was not, despite the same amount of anticipation etc. And BBJX was so phenomenal that authorities then went "ballistic" about time travel elements or non historical elements in drama and hence this drama "suffered" its "hiatus".

As for history, LLW did not really have much records in history and so there is no real reason to stop the story. Just wait till LLW princess gets shown, I personally doubt it will have the impact LLW did. (Not dissing the show ok) DMY was and is very anticipated, that it itself may also be bad in that it had high expectations to meet. But none of the corresponding shows really can compare so I don't get the so called ratings issues.

Finally, just enjoy the show, I loved many a show that had "lousy ratings" but they were good and their actors were good. Eddie is getting the movie and enjoying a huge wave of success whilst LSS continues to be in huge demand.

Just like Yu mama, love or hate him, he generates a ton of publicity and not every show enjoys the same success.

BBJX just like Zhen Huan and perhaps LLW were very different in terms of reach and popularity but just because a drama does not reach those heights does not mean it is not very popular.

And this drama could not be promoted currently because all the actors are already occupied with something else!

I think Eddie has done really well as is Huge's Jiu Ye.... I feel so much for the latter. DAMNIT .. but XY is not wrong in her choices. She just cannot love both :P

From beginning of the series, WWJ, XY, and JY look young, and the series progress, the lead looks aged.. I wonder if you all see that.. the youthfulness of WWJ aged into manhood... as with XY and JY... their facial expression is more mature, and wiser as the years supposely passed... I believe in total from the beginning of the series to the end is about 4 to 5 years.. if I'm correct... XY stay in Chen An for 3 yr before trying to leave to Da Mo, when WWJ stop her.. then she stay and fight in the army with WWJ for about 6 month to 1 years.. then she and WWJ return to Cheng An and 7 month pregnant and the baby, and switch the baby.. by the time they leave for Da Mo the second time, 1 years had passed..
other series, I notice the charactor don't seem to age at all even when they are suppose to be in their 40...

Well, I've been watching Nobunaga Concerto, Kyou wa Kaisha wo Yasumimasu and Tomorrow Cantabile plus I'd like to start watching The King's Face and maybe check out Valid Love. However, 2014 has ruined me (I'm would even go as far as to say for any other drama) with four dramas and OTPs that have made it to my personal TOP 10 of all time (SOTD, Secret Love Affair, High School King and You Who Came From the Stars); I'm afraid it will take something miraculously epic for me to feel this kind of obsessive addiction. Mostly, I think I'll continue binge and gush over WJ&XY at my blog until something amazing appears.

Really love what you said abt Eddie's potrayal as Wei Wuji. So RIGHT! and I agree with you 100% hahahaha he's really one of my fave character in Chinese Historical Drama.
