HG encountered a near fatal car-crash during the filming of LOCH08 in 2006 which resulted in major investors and some key actors pulling out of the production. This caused a lot of financial loss for Tangren and nearly made them bankrupt. But they stuck around for Hu Ge, waiting for him to recuperate from his injuries and sending him for reconstructive surgery (rather than finding a replacement for Guo Jing) and borrowed money to ensure the production continued.

Oh, when I said that he owed the company, I don't mean monetary wise. Back in 2006 when they were filming LOCH, HG got into a tragic car accident. Tangren halt the production for a whole year and waited for him to recover. Tangren almost went bankrupt because of it. It took many years for Tangren to recover from their financial crisis...thus because of that gratitude and his close relationship to Karen, he said he'll never leave Tangren, also he's part owner now. That's the jist of it.

TBH, when first reading the novel I liked MJ, but liked HQB's aggressive side and loved his character. Now, like Dragon said...after he and JY got together, it got bland. I guess that's just like many relationship...LOL. Now, MJ is the one making my heart throb.

But Tangren liked to torture the audience and rarely do happy endings though...

Thanks for explaining it to me. I heard about HG's tragic accident, but I never knew about the details. No wonder he's so close with TR. It all makes sense now. I think it's really touching how TR supported him when he needed it the most... almost like they're family...

I can't wait to see how the drama will adapt the new ending. Knowing TR they'll probably rip our hearts out again with their sad endings but here's hoping that they'll make it less sad ... like not making Jin Yu having to raise her child all alone...

Both HQB and MJ seem to be really likable characters. It will be interesting to see them fight over Jin Yu onscreen hahaha. That is, if the bromance between Eddie and HG don't spill over hehehehe. Thanks for posting those cartoons, everyone! They're so cute and funny!

Was that before SARFT butted in and demanded HQB dies at the end of the drama? How can JY be happy with HQB dead and being a single mom unless Meng Jiu comes to her?

Well, Tong Hua had a say in the ending of BBJX drama adaptation which I thought was a lot easier on the heart than the original ending, yet it retained that air of sadness befitting the original. Even book fans who initially protested at the idea of bringing RX back to the present, were generally quite pleased with the new ending.

I'm sure Tangren also wants an audience pleasing ending for DMY, that was why they changed the ending of BBJX in the first place.

Maybe they'll just make a vague ending. Instead of showing HQB and JY riding off happily ever after into the sunset, maybe they'll just hint at it instead of directly showing it. Ie JY riding off alone and then spots a shadow that perhaps resembles HQB.

Because really, if HQB dies, then the story of DMY really gets deflated. HQB didn't even die a glorious death (in history). And half of what made MJ so great was

I actually wouldn't mind MengYu. To me, HQB started getting a bit bland after he won over JY. Reading back on earlier chapters when JY's heart completely belonged to MJ, I've found that I have a new appreciation for those scenes. In the later chapters, I think MJ outshines HQB and now I see why MJ has a big fanbase as well. I'm not sure if I'd call myself a MengYu shipper, but I'm definitely not opposed to turning into one for the series.

Exactly. I had an appreciation for MJ in the second half of the book, but I still remain a steadfast HuoYu shipper in the book. BUT due to the case of GeShi in DMY, I'll most likely be supporting MengYu in the drama.

I'm surprised that they could get Maggie Cheung, if that weibo is to be believed. I'm also surprised they managed to get Qin Hao as 4th male lead.

Some of the things HG mentions about LSS in his interview:
-He's very close/familiar with LSS. (Yes, we know, LOL. That wasn't even the question.)
-BBJX was a breakthrough for her. She used to be less adept with things like facing the media and she was shy. After BBJX, she's matured a lot. In terms of acting, before, she used to act more from herself. Her acting in BBJX is much richer and fuller. There's also clear character development from the beginning to end of the story.
-The interviewer asked him about comparisons between LSS and YM (LOL at the fact that HG gets asked about this too). He says that although they are both from Beijing, YM is a more standard Beijing girl and speaks boldly while SS gives him the feeling of more of a Southern girl. (and he describes her using words that I don't know how to translate so someone else can probably think of better translations than I can)

I agree. Can't HQB happens to live just be unofficial history (urban legend). He's done so much for Han Dynasty, so does the fact that a story made him end up living in solitary such a disgrace to the historic figure? If HQB died from a plague, they would fire burn him and the whole army that contacted with the plague on site just so that it won't spread. I don't think people that are burning them would want to spend too much time looking through to that throughly inspect everything. I also doubt they'd haul back an infected body. That tomb could very well not have HQB's body and is just an empty tomb. I think there's really lots of space for urban legends and assumptions.

Most sources show he did die of illness, but was because of war. One of those plague that came because too many dead body. Then something about it being Xiong Nu who put dead animal bodies in their water stream to contaminate it. It's so contradicting to his name. He's suppose to steer away illnesses with his name. -_-"
