I'm curious with Yang Min Na role in The Crimson Sabre of Gordon Lam version which mention by one of them here (:
I found this photo, which I finally recalled her role as An Xiao Hui, YCZ childhood friend, she has an decent acting there despite she's still pretty young that time. I think she would be a good casting for YBQ's wife with Huang Wen Hao.

This is about Hu Dong: He portrayed a decent man with loyalty and courage in Shui Hu Zhuan (Outlaws of the Marsh?) and Sui Tang Yan Yi (Orientation?) and yet will play a bad guy Zuo Leng Chan in Swordsman. Let's see a different Hu Dong.

This Roy Qiu sounds like a play boy, how many ex-g/f does he have? Gez...seems like he dated most of Taiwanese actresses except Joe Chen. I feel sorry for Tang Yan now....

Well for over 10 years, Roy has only been linked with Rainie, Joe, and now maybe Tang Yan. I really wouldn't consider him a playboy. For a lot people, having 5 relationships in 10 years isn't a strange thing.


Back on topic...I always thought Xiao Hui was really pretty in TVB's Crimson Sabre. When I watched it I was hoping that YCZ would end up with her...but no Gordon was stuck with Sarah Au and Charmaine Sheh. Blah.

Another young actor who will portray Lu Da You (LHC's martial brother who most cared about LHC) is Zhang Zhuo Wen 张倬闻. He isn't handsome but quite cute. A good pick for Lu Da You!

Didn't know JC and FSF are such good friends! So could that person "a first tier idol, handsome and charming" as described by YZ be FSF? YZ must have some grounds before he said that as he would draw a lot of fires if he didn't live up to his words. I do hope that person is FSF.



I think it's still too early to say this drama is a failure. Nowadays a drama generally takes 2 to 2 1/2 months to film, so 3 months is about right. Besides, the actual filming is 3 months, but the preparation work has taken much longer. YZ started preparing for this drama six months ago. The artistes started pracitising sword fighting way before the kick off day. The site director visited many sites to select the scenes. Construction works have started long time ago. Costume designers have worked day and night. The success of a drama not just about the front line people, but also people who work hard behind the scene to make it happening.

Rather than the costume, make up, they should just focus on the storyline. Seem like another fashion show. perhap zhang jizhong version was the most that look originality as everything look old school. TVB version with little budget, not that great in costume but still did a fantastic show.

This 2012 version will have many aspect with HD graphic and all that costume fashion show and whatever it is they put as make up on their face these days but will they make it look good altogether? There's also good looking actor/actress but will that really make a great outcome....or just another zzz watch once and never again. and also, are some of us just watching this because of cute actors/actress. if so than the target audience is a fail of the century and they know nothing of mainland culture and value.

Put in mind that this version will hold for another 5-7 years before they decide for another remake.

I agree with this... It's really scary especially because YZ is the scriptwriter and has a track record of copying ideas from other dramas (I guess its more scary - and I think I mentioned this before - if this becomes a tragic romance than wuxia with just a tiny bit of martial arts ). But I'm still hoping that Jin Yong has the last say on the final script.

Interesting facts about the previous TVB's SOD. For those people who have watched the Hong Kong version of SOD would probably remember He Bao Sheng (or Ho Po Sang in Hong Kong Chinese), who portrayed LPZ. He is now 41 years old and has become a monk since 2005. He lives an impoverished life in a small temple in Hong Kong sleeping 6 hours per day, fetching water, farming and growing vegetables. He is the oldest son of Hong Kong Po Sang Bank's family, with a fortune of USD3.45 billion! He was a famous actor but decided to become a monk.

I agreed sticking to the Wuxia theme is important, otherwise we don't call it Wuxia. I don't think YZ is that stupid to make this drama a tragic romance (well, unless he's thick head but unlikely). He's the only scriptwriter after all, there are other people who can influent the script, including the artistes themselves, the director and the producers. Generally artistes play a key role in how to interpret their plays (particularly Wallace as he may suggest to change the script from time to time).

I don't think this version is comparable to those older versions (and someone confirmed that, see below). What's the point of making a new version based on exactly the same old versions? It's safer to be a copycat but the show biz is a risky game. Besides, they might draw ever more bad comments by copying the older versions. When brigitte Lin played DFBB, I'm sure there were lots of drawbacks but ironically it has become a classic.

Someone has already finished reading the whole script. A fan wrote him a private message and the reply was there are fresh ideas in the script.
