Marcus Kwok finally get a role that has more than 2 lines. I wonder if he helped in the technical part of the script. He used to be an ER doctor because he joined TVB. It feel weird seeing scenes that show Tavia is to be a more brilliant specialist trainee than him and I know that he actually knows more than Tavia.

He's not in the front. Maybe one of the back roll people whose head has been cut off.

Whoa, he's in the very back row of headless artists? Then his role must be very insignificant. A real physician playing a physician... I wonder if he laughs at some of the medical inaccuracies or extreme fabrications (for the sake of drama).

Kidd, have you finished this series already? Do you recommend it?

I cannot tell you because I've watch less than 1 episode.

But, many people who have watched it praise the series. My aunt also found it enjoyable.

The series and story is good so far, it may be boring if you have no interest in hospital procedures, but it's fast paced so you won't feel like you're watching a documentary.

Derek Kwok is so funny as a male nurse. I wonder if that twitching/flinching of the eyebrows is in character?

Kenneth still needs to be more expressive because I feel his facial expressions when mad, scolding, or concern is somewhat limited.

I haven't watched Healing Hands fully, so I can't do a comparison. I'm nearly done watching it except for the last two episodes. I think the stories are realistic, not too much bending of reality. If you have sick family members you can relate to some of the subplots of the characters. It's really poignant, sweet, and somewhat motivating. Love the ending of episode 18.

I'm not liking Mei Shuet. She and Tavia both like the same person, but she pretended not to know and told Tavia she liked that person. They're sisters so naturally Tavia would reserve her feelings knowing her little sister likes him. It's petty of her.

Thanks for the quick review. I might give it a try.

Ah, I knew it was too soon to end the TV series. 20 episodes is not enough. So there's 25 episodes. 5 more episodes to go then.

    SS -

It's weird that the TVB forum is almost dead these days. There used to be a lot more people watching TVB dramas in the past and discussing them. Now all the discussions center around the Mainland China series. The threads in that section are on fire, while the TVB threads are rather dead.

Let me know what you think of the ending. TVB is notorious nowadays for rushing the ending.

I haven't gotten to the end yet, there's like 5 more episodes left. Mei Suet is still a pain in the buttocks!

Yes, TVB is known for rushed and bad endings. I saw some of Queen of Diamonds and Hearts with Roger Kwok and Fala Chen. They still use background music from 10 years ago like from Journey to the West and Dark Tales II. With Queens, it's just a fantasy comedy on Zhong Wu Yan, a comedy remake of Dodo Cheng's role.

I think TVB has been gradually going down the hill with their stories and how they produce their dramas. Former TVB fans are looking else where for entertainment.

Now this series is doing okay...haven't lost me yet...I'm guess I'm waiting to see how bad or rushed it ends.

Wish and Switch's ending was lame and rushed. But what can you expect with a magical wish and trade website story.

Why doesn't TVB just adapt some novel? Mainland China series are making dramas out of novels left and right. That way, TVB scriptwriters don't have to come up with their own plots/stories.

Some medical dramas out there have me wincing a bit (like Grey's Anatomy) because of the inconsistencies with what's being portrayed on TV compared to what really occurs in the profession. I know drama is suppose to dramatize everything to make it seem more exciting, but some of the situations that occur in the drama are just laughable.

I have been trying to watch this one, but can't get past episode 6. I guess 4 years worth of House, Dexter, CSI, and the like make the story lines for On Call 36 Hours feel a bit weak.

I just finished this series yesterday and it's not so bad. But I wouldn't say there's anything spectacular about this series. Tavia does a really good job in her role. They tied things up neatly for her story.

I get the feeling they were trying to present many of the concerns and difficulties of being doctors, which is okay. But hmm...overall, if this series attracts you, it wouldn't be a total waste to watch it. You either like it or you don't.

    I liked the theme song.

BTW, Marcus Kwok appears and disappears in this series a lot. I mean one scene he's there and then for couple episodes, he doesn't appear. His character is in the same class as Him Law, but you see more of Him Law than Marcus. Somehow, Marcus and Wing (whatever the actress name) starts dating (and yet no body knows how and when) and by the end of the series everyone is at their wedding. I know they're just minor characters, but the development is kind of odd.

I've finished this drama last week. I wonder why it seems not much people watching it here.

Firstly, I think it's kind of breakthrough for Kenneth and Tavia. I think when Kenneth is expressing his madness, he has pretty good expression and body language, though it's seen at FOS before. But because Kenneth in this role, he suppose to be very strict and very bored, all he has interests on is his family and work. So the portray of this role is somehow new because I never really seen Kenneth to be in a cool and mature personality kind of role. And I think he did portray very well.

Especially his dilemma when Tavia confess to him, and I think he did a good differentiation to the parts when Tavia and Mandy confess to him, he clearly show that to Tavia, it's not impossible for them, but to Mandy it definitely impossible for them, but perhaps it because the script is when Mandy confess, he already fall in love deeply with Tavia.

For Tavia, I find her more outstanding in here than all her other recent dramas. She give a depth in expressing her character here, particularly I think OS of Tavia's role did a great job in this drama, because throughout the show especially towards the end. Basically, is all her thinking, all her sayings which make me into her character.

More screentime and character development for Him Law and Mandy Wong. They show quite alot of Him and Mandy. Especially on Him, because they show how Him, from a nonchalant trainee doctor to a good doctor. Because he does things very vague and always get penalized from Kenneth, however the script shows how he learn from his mistakes and getting the motivation to work hard and getting the meaning of being a doctor.

Overall, this drama is not draggy and it gives alot of supporting characters a short story. I like the fact that they focus on certain department as the story goes on. Seems neat and not messy storylines. But particularly they focus more on Kenneth's dept and Tavia's later dept.

IMO, this drama is very worth watching, it's another about lives and death dramas, but very aspiring as it's very close to reality, of course it's kind of heart-broken when it's about death.

Do give this drama a try, if you are interested in Doctor's profession type of dramas and if you're a fan of Kenneth/Tavia. Or even Him Law and Mandy Wong.
