Default To chop, or not to chop: Au Yeung Hak's legs.

If you were West Poison Au Yeung Fung in LOCH, and your nephew/son Au Yeung Hak has just had his legs crushed by Wong Yung's devious trap, do you choose to chop off Ah Hak's legs or not? If you chop off his legs, you'll save his life by preventing infection, but he'll definitely be crippled for life. If you elect to not chop off his legs, there's a *slight* chance he might walk again, but there's an even better chance that he'll die. What to do?

Not to chop. Chopping off his legs means that he'll be a cripple for the rest of his life and his use of martial arts are worthless now. There are very few elite martial artists who are crippled, but judging by his character, he (or Ouyang Feng) would rather die that have his legs chopped off. That to him (or Ouyang Feng) is a great embarrassment and may be even worse than death.

If I were Ouyang Feng, I'd chop. He is still my son afterall... But if I were Ouyang Ke, I'd rather die than become cripple and lose my martial arts.

Iirc, OYF wanted to chop his legs but the boulder was on part of his midsection too, so chopping would probably have killed him too.

Au Yeung Hak could live without his legs, but if his pelvis and lower trunk were crushed too...he would have died soon enough even if Yeung Hong hadn't murdered him.
