Ma Guangzuo's only quality was extreme strength, which seemed godly to uneducated Mongols who had no experience with higher martial arts. While I don't think we see the Wu brothers winning any fights pre-16 years, as they were mostly pitted against opponents who would wipe the floor with Ma Guangzuo, they were quite accomplished fighters post-16 years, bulldozing their way through most of the Wulin fighters who competed before tiring and giving way to Yelu Qi (whom they were consciously clearing a way for).
