In the real world, after an athlete is injured, even after his or her wound has healed, he or she still needs a considerable amount of time to rehabilitate his/her skills to the level he/she had prior to the injury. Sometimes, even if the injury fully heals, the skills never quite return to the pre-injury levels.
One of the strange things about wuxia is that after a character recovers from an injury, his/her skills return to full power almost IMMEDIATELY after the injury heals...with no need for reconditioning or rehabilitation. Consider Gwok Jing in LOCH after he was wounded by West Poison Au Yeung Fung's Ha Mo Gung and Yeung Hong's dagger. Although the healing process itself required a number of days, as soon as Gwok Jing was healed, he was ready to fight at 100% capacity (perhaps at an even higher level than before the injury due to inner power gains from circulating 9 Yum Jen Ging energy for days on end). Just one hour before Gwok Jing emerged with Wong Yung from the secret room at Kuk Ling Fung's inn in Ox Village, Gwok Jing was helpless and could have been easily killed by anybody. As soon he emerged from the secret room, however, Gwok Jing was fit to kick the butt of anybody other than a Great or Kau Cheen Yan.
Gwok Jing's is not a unique case. In many cases, a wuxia character who has been injured is ready to fight at full capacity immediately after the wound heals; there seems to be no additional rehabilitation needed to get the fighting abilities back into shape.
