Synopsis:

This drama takes place during the Tang Dynasty before the ascension of Wu Zetian as Emperor. Large-scale disappearance of palace ladies in the capital, complex palace politics and in-fighting, it will be a unique story about one woman’s ascent to the throne through a path that is paved with blood. No one is completely clean and no one can escape. Love unexpectedly blooms in a deadly, forbidden place.

An epic period drama filled with wisdom, tactics and strategy, the story is a continuation of Mei Ren Xin Ji (Schemes of a Beauty) with its unparalleled elegance and stunning backdrop. It will be a dramatic opera telling the story of the race to the throne among four men and five women, including a queen, a demon, a cunning monk, etc.

In life, we sometimes have to make choices whether to sacrifice one for another. You cannot have both. You have to make a choice. Mei Ren Tian Xia will be a story that discusses one’s choices in life. The suspense and intrigues arising out of these choices will fill the story with dramatic tension.

Ming Dao is the male lead. I always remember Ming Dao in The Prince Who Turns Into A Frog (very popular Taiwanese series). He has this very contemporary look, so when I saw his name in this series I was like

Mickey's the second male lead. But as with ALL Yu Zheng dramas, Mickey will have as much screen time as the first male lead even as the second or third lead. And it will always be a dashing, handsome, brave etc hero role.

Yan Kuan, the hottest actor among them, will be Wu Zetian's weak, hen-pecked emperor hubby

Not much is known about his character, Chong Ming Yan (明崇俨), in history. From what I read, he's suppose to be a magistrate with some knowledge of the occult. http://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-hk/明崇俨

Yu Zheng takes a lot of artistic license with history anyway. I just cross my fingers hoping he won't copy too much from Tsui Hark's Detective Dee.

Maybe he can have a super cool and ultra suave guest role? I'll be frank, I don't want him to be anybody's henpecked weak willed husband. That would really piss me off and I might be forced to throw something at the screen. My mom watched MRXJ and when he died, she was like, "Wait, is that handsome one coming back? How come he died so quickly?" lol How come he can't do a guest role like Feng Shao Feng's and Myolie Wu's story- brave stalwart fellow, gets the girl, pair rides their horses into the sunset?

I barely recognized her from Dragon Heroes. WoW she looks good here. She tends to wear too much makeup in her series though. I think I saw her in Knock, Knock Loving You and dang girlfriend had on like a pound of powder. I always thought that Li Xiao Lu is a good actress and cute.

i think there're another wu ze tian series, i don't know if it was before or after alyssia chia series,the one who played shanguan.. eva huang? quite interesting in early episodes and a bit draggy through the middle

Blech, ok, I'm officially going to give this a pass then unless I hear really fantastic reviews. I'm not going to sit through hours of these 3 leads (one who I don't know and 2 who I dislike) when I don't even get compensated with YK screentime!! Well, maybe if he gets a good guest role I'll watch his scenes, plus possibly YM's.
