Actually, they probably knew it before hand since the Mongol army is probably to big to hide. And with their martial arts, saving a son is probably not that hard. It's not like they need to take down the whole army.

You think Guo Jing will save his own son first when there are so many others need saving? No way. The guy is a 100% hero. No selfish actions from him.Originally posted by superboy

It won't be hard to just sent his son out before hand. He can still protect the city.

If Gwok Por Lo was anything like his father, I doubt he'd run and let his parents get slaughtered by the Mongols. Most likely, Gwok Por Lo died bravely fighting the Mongols alongside his parents.
Gwok Seung would have done the same, but she wasn't there.
I sort of understand that, just don't understand how GJ and especially HR would allow that.

It comes down to the core of what the Gwoks believed in: the country lives, they live; the country dies, they die.
didnt guo xiang run and made er mei? so she broken the gwoks tradition!!??Originally Posted by Ken Cheng

If Gwok Seung had been there, she would have died alongside the rest of her family, no doubt. Since she was absent at the time and only found out about their passing later, dying was kind of futile. She wisely recognized that she was the last living member of the Gwok family and by founding the Ngor Mei Sect and instructing them to oppose the Mongols, she continued her family's legacy.Originally Posted by LuNaR

sry...ive just seen this thread
do Huang Rong and Guo Jing and Guo Po Lu die in HSDS?
Yes, but we hear about it through the words of Mit Jeut See Tai and others. Jin Yong has never revealed the details about the Gwoks' final moments.Originally Posted by Demonic Swordsman

Guo Xiang is very smart to have created Er'Mei Bai/E'Mei Bai. It's really amazing and it ACTUALLY EXISTS!!! It doesn't follow the same guidelines as the one in Jin Yong's novel. I've seen guys living there and practicing Kung Fu too! Both males and females can join. I really want to go!! I wish I could join... Although I'd like to be apart of the one in the novel.

When GX founded Er-mei, was she already a nun?
(the following questions may be OT, but it may not be necessary to open another thread since they are related to GX in a certain extent)
1. Who succeeded GX?
2. When Mie Jue was the third leader, was she already a nun?
3. Was ZZR the one who noted that all female disciples cannot marry after being jilted?
mie jue succeeded GX?
i thought mie jue suceeded guo xiang...
yea i think it was ZZR that noted it.

No, there was one more Ngor Mei Sect leader between Gwok Seung and Mit Jeut See Tai.Originally Posted by LuNaR
