I believe she didn't gain many fans during her earlier years was because she was typecast as mostly playing a villain. And it's difficult to lose that image since she was so good at it, that people really dislike her, not just her character. Also, she was always playing supporting roles in her company's production. By the time she gained female lead roles, she's of age, and the competition with younger and new actresses are really difficult--

Her only villain role I saw was the one in Female Prime Minister but she wasn't all that annoying, or not even annoying at all I would say. It's actually at least better than being Mary Sue. I think all the roles she had taken matched her anyway, although they are not always the main lead, many of us recognized her for her hard work in doing whatever role she's doing.

Who knows if in real life she was just not tactful at pleasing her bosses or something so she didn't get the best roles, and I hate sychopants so it sounds like she is not one and I'm happier for her.

Sad news for YR today. The long awaited drama Feng Huang Prisoners 《凤囚凰》, that she was supposed to headline and put on hold for 3 years will start shooting in January, but YR won't be the female lead. She was replaced by Guan Xiaotong. Many fans expressed their disappointments and anger to Yu Zheng. But oh well, that's entertainment. Hopefully there's better opportunities for her to shine....

I'm okay with YR's career actually. It's unfortunate that she doesn't get more lead roles, but I attribute a lot of that to her age. It's a dilemma, bc she's older but looks so young, so it's awkward to cast her as either young/teen characters or older/mature character. They have to find a middle ground for her. It's ok tho, the only reason I'd want her to have a lead role is bc I want to see her in reciprocated romances. It was her cold/arrogant queen character in Female Prime Minister that I fell in love with, so when I see her as vanilla "good" characters, it's just not satisfying for me anyway.

I started watching Memory Lost, I didn't expect it to be so good! I love her acting in this and I think it's really well-written. I just finished the first 12 episodes so far. I think it's funny that Yang Rong spends so much of the series sleeping and napping though haha

It's comforting to know she's got tons of support from existing and gained many new fans after losing the lead role for Feng Huang Prisoner. Here are her fans welcoming her at the airport on the 24th of December. I believe she will be filming a variety show...some detective show.
