Should TaiWan Reunite with the Mainland? Or should Taiwan try to conquer back the Mainland?

Try to conquer back the Mainland should never be an option because it's impossible to do. Reunite with the Mainland is a good economic option because if reunited, Taiwan companies can access to the huge Mainland market.

Vietnam is an independent country while Taiwan was part of China for hundred of years.

Vietnam was also part of China for over a THOUSAND years from 111BC until 938 AD; then of course there was the French occupation. So basically stating that Taiwan was once owned by Dynastic China (which no longer exists) is not a very sound argument for unification. That's same as saying Australia or USA should reunite with Great Britain because of historical ownership.

Regarding Taiwan, it was also under Dutch and Japan occupation as well, so why not unify with either of these countries instead?

As for the economical argument-- Taiwan already has access to the mainland market even without uniting. HTC, Foxconn, Garmin (this is a USA/Taiwan brand), D-Link, Asus, Acer are just some examples. In fact, many of the factories of Taiwanese companies are located in Mainland China. There is also ECFA, which is a bi-lateral trade agreement between the two countries.

I think if we're to seriously look at the topic of unification, it should be considered from other perspectives.

How shameful of the ccp to do that.

While the ccp is very big, I think most of it capability is limited and probably just bluffing and show off rather than actual quality capability that Taiwan have.

I think the capability that is produced by the ccp is something like this.....

While in Taiwan, they actually put effort in developing a quality capability like Japan.

Fast building up might only look okay from the outside for show off but cannot match with quality.

90% of the population being Han Chinese is somewhat of a jumping point for that argument.

For either of them to war is unnecessary conflict. They are fine as it is now, except for the official status of Taiwan, I suppose. :\
