My first YZ series was Swordsman, and that was pretty terrible. He manage to take my favorite novel and turn it into one of the worse wuxia series. I can't imagine what he'll do with my least favorite story. Actually I can imagine that.
YZ is a joke.
Yes omg ! Jiro Wang in an wuxia series... I don't see where that will be good in any way no offense though. I personally LOVE Jiro Wang, but probably not too much in Wuxia.
Honestly, I don't know who the Kublai Khan is but I'm going to take a guess and say that he's probably the leader of a clan or a tribal group. Because according to the other wuxia series I've seen, the "Khan" is always the BIG GUY.
And I agree with you ! OMG ! Michelle Chen was such a miscast !
This is gong to be a wacky one, I am sure YG will fall for Li Mochou, Guo Fu and XLN. I think by now we just have to pretend that this has nothing to do with the actual ROCH and let's all watch it as some romance chain, train, pain series.
Actually Carman was around 21 when she played XLN, so she was actually quite close in age to XLN's real starting age in the novel. She actually looks quite mature for her age, at times a little too mature to be XLN, since XLN was described as looking very very youthful. Despite that, I agree with you that Carman is the best XLN. Her eyes did all the acting, and she looked absolutely beautiful when performing the choreography. She actually looked like a martial arts fighter whereas LYF mostly looked pretty and floaty during her fighting scenes (though it probably wasn't her fault and most likely due to how everyone else would glide and float prettily in every freakin scene).
I'm so behind on the news for this her ROCH. I just found out who will be playing XLN and the little faith I had in this drama shattered. I really want to grab YZ by the collar and ask him, "WHY?!!!" I will give it a try for CX, and will last as long as I can before my face shatters from face-desking so hard.
Hahha Yeah, have to agree with you babe. Somehow, Yu Zhen either does a good job (Gong and Lu Zhen) or completely misfires.. like Swordsman. I think he might be better sticking to those dramas not based on an original novel, especially the acclaimed and (already done many times) one. For Michelle Chen, she was great in the movie and probably suited for modern dramas but she really doesnt do XLN justice in her period look.. "_". She just doesnt carry it off whether its her "feel" or her "looks" per se. I am really not sure I can make it through the series especially if Yu Zhen turns it into some love triangle/quad with a neither here nor all the way... approach aka Swordsman either.... certainly not waiting in anticipation of this one "_".
I didn't know that Carmen was 21 when she played that role. Your right, she certainly looked a bit mature for her age. But I think that quality even add more to her role as Xiao Long Nu; her mature look definitely made a convincing martial art teacher. I really love her portrayal from start to finish. She had a cold, yet heavenly and confident look when she was first introduced that brought out the mystery of her character. After she was out in society and was taken advantage of and after she was almost married to that old perv, you can see there was a gradual change to her character -- no longer cold, but innocent, and she still has that heavenly look and fainted confident.
As for LYF, again, I understand why she is popular, but in no way is her Xiao Long Nu comes close to that of Carmen Lee. While she tried her best to bring out those qualities of Xiao Long Nu, I'm wasn't convinced. She was overflowed with "heavenly aura", but nothing else. I didn't connect with her character at all as I did with Carmen Lee.
As for Carmen Lee, it's weird. I watched other dramas that she was a part of, both modern and ancient, but it's always meh or so-so, nothing memorable. She was pretty in those dramas, but in no way did she capture my attention the way her Xiao Long Nu did. There was something that was so strikingly beautiful about her Xiao Long Nu that she just can't replicate in her other roles.
Here's your first glimpse of YG and XLN...

Oh, XLN is sporting Minnie Mouse ears again? Reminds me of Fann Wong version...
Seriously not interested watching this one...
I'm getting second-hand embarrassment for Michelle Chen and her XLN stills...ugh. Looks horrible. WHAT is up with those stringy thingies in her hair?
Also, Chen Xiao looks like he belongs in Chinese Paladin as Hu Ge's younger sibling.
OMG! OMG! I want to headdesk myself right now! Terrible stills!!! I imagining myself already headdesking throughout the whole drama, how can stills look so terrible! Michelle Chen looks freakin' ugly for XLN, and she isn't even ugly but I think the costumes and hair make her extremely unattractive, especially as 'the' beauty of the jin yong universe. Seriously what did yu zheng think when he casted her, but considering his swordsman approach, he doesn't think that often. And Chen Xiao, seriously, I was alright with him as YG, but the hairsyle and the costumes, I am totally not a fan of this. I think Jing Yong stories are classics so costumes and hair should stick to being classical too, and not look like some video game ripped off fantasy drama....ugh...someone help me with my headache right now.

Seriously, at some point the subtle plagiarism has to stop.

@shangster Wow, great observing. Btw, didn't YZ said something about XLN being more open and flirty, I think then he should of let XLN wear the short skrit as well to match her character
Here we go, "The Condor HEROs". YZ and his poor grammar titles.
First "Swordman" without the "s" in the middle, now it's "Condor Heros" without the "e".
The fans always have to change it for him, "Swordsman" and "Condor Heroes"...
YZ is such a joke, and these stills makes the series looks just as much as a joke. For all it's worth, at least so far things don't look as colorful as Swordsman. That was like a rainbow of clothing.

XLN looks like she is a ghost, and YG looks like he is from the beggar clan, or a desert gypsy .
Viann as Li Mochou (way better looking than XLN)
