Yea I think in the book it's unclear whether or not Meng Jue actually died since his body wasn't found? Not sure. Yu Zheng might have changed the ending.

I don't think there's a direct sequel to YZG. The one you're talking about is probably Sorrow Relieving Tune (still unwritten/unpublished). It's supposed to take ~100 years after the end of YZG. The idea was for Tong Hua to do a trilogy similar to the Condor Heroes trilogy.

I think the series itself is aiming for a 2015 release.

Since someone already mentioned this...I haven't got hold of the full novel yet...but can I ask why/how did ling gege die? Do to illness? Mengjue is the adopted son of MS in DMY?

Did the author ever talk about MS again after he left XY and HXB in DMY in this YunZhongGe novel?

MJ is the adopted son of MS in DMY
yes, the author did talk about MS after he left XY and HXB in DMY (he adopted MJ, permanently crippled and weak health because of saving HXB, few years later die)
ling gege die because of Ling Bing Yi poison (long story)

last chapter or post story (can't remember) - few years after YG left, MJ was kill by Ling Bing Yi
sad ending, almost every main character die

Lol @ the first installment of the trilogy having been produced by Tangren Media, and this one by Yu Zheng.

Truth be told, I strongly prefer Yu Zheng's production style and cast selections over the largely overrated Tangren's.

Seriously sick of seeing Hu Ge and Liu Shishi paired together (not to mention Eddie Peng and Deng Limin) after a friggin decade of Tangren dramas, which is why I skipped Ballad of the Desert.

Angelababy and Lu Yi, on the other hand—two of my favorites that I rarely see outside of the Chinese motion picture industry. Throw in the usual Yu Zheng mainstays—namely Chen Xiao and Yang Rong—and you've got yourself a far superior cast.
