an easy way to estimate would be to write down 1 chapter per 2-3 days (3 days for safety) and take out of the year about 8 weeks for holiday.

as for other novels, from the same author there is coiling dragon and swallowed star which are also being done in the forum, but at a slower rate, but pretty new in comparison, and they are also longer than this story :s there is also Martial Odyssey and Martial Odyssey 2 which may interest you, posted by avidfan. (none of these have an unabridged thread yet so you will have to scroll past comments too)

^ All of the "I eat tomatoes" novels are very very long. I think the only "advantage" to them is that there is no historical facts/figures that the translator has to research, unlike Jin Yong's works which requires a lot of effort from the translators.

So, please stop whining or even demanding for faster updates. It's not like any translator here is your employee and getting paid by any of us by translating.
