This late jindan contains a great amount of energy. It even has more energy than his body. Fortunately, he does not eat it directly like ordinary demonic beasts at all. Instead, he refines it using the Stellar Flame and in the end only absorbs the pure essence of it.

In Qin Yu’s dantian,

The Stellar Flame is continuously burning one strand of jindan energy after another. After a strand has been burnt to the utmost, the small amount of essence left of it is swallowed up directly by the swirling nebula in his dantian. The silvery grains contained in the many layers of the nebula then absorb this amount of essence.

Days have passed. By now the silvery grains in the nebula inside Qin Yu have become much larger than they were at the beginning. Suddenly --

But if he had kept practicing normally from then on, it would have taken him at least over 100 years to reach the middle phase of the Nebula stage.

However, on this journey, Qin Yu has fought quite a few demonic beasts and killed quite a few Jindan-stage demonic beasts. Because he had absorbed a good few jindans’ essence previously, after absorbing a portion of a late jindan’s essence just now, he has suddenly broken through the early phase of the Nebula stage and reached the middle phase.

The swirling nebula inside Qin Yu’s body now is densely filled with the silvery grains, each of which is moving in a circle. But Qin Yu keeps refining the energy of the jindan and absorbing its essence.

After an indefinite amount of time, Qin Yu finally opens his eyes.

“Xiao Hei has reached the middle phase of the Jindan stage too.” He looks at Xiao Hei, who is still refining a jindan. He is in no hurry so he sits with legs crossed quietly waiting. With his hereditary memories, Xiao Hei is really a very powerful demonic beast.

“Mu clan? The Mu clan has switched allegiance to the Qin clan!” The green-clad middle-aged man says at once.

The Great Ancestor’s entire body shakes. In the blink of an eye, his face changes color several times. A faint smile then appears on his face: “Ha-ha … it’s quite something, this Qin clan. Our Xiang clan told the Shangguan clan to pretend to lean on it, but it had unexpectedly asked the Mu clan to pretend to sell out to us earlier!”

In almost a moment, the Great Ancestor understands everything.

With his intelligence and meticulous planning for centuries, I'd be disappointed if he wasn't aware that there could possibly be a super expert like the Great Ancestor that could instantly crush all his plans

I wonder if Xiuzhenists are dying at this rate all the time or just when Qin Yu is around, the death toll of high Xiantian experts and Xiuzhenists so far in the story has been pretty significant. You would think that if Xiuzhenists were killing each other all the time there'd be none left by now (or else there must be a fairly steady flow of new Xiuzhenists). My guess is that human Xiuzhenists are rare but demonic beasts in the Wilderness are relatively common.

Edit: Also, given that demonic beasts in the wilderness are killing each other all the time for their jindans/neidans and yuanyings, I'm starting to wonder if the biggest, baddest mofos aren't actually demonic beasts. I can see parties or raids of Xiuzhenists entering the Wilderness to kill bosses then engaging in conflicts over the loot.

And silly Qin Yu and Xiao Hei. I'm willing to bet that there is an insanely powerful demonic beast in the prairie. Why? Because theres no other demonic beasts in the area. For such a large area that has no demonic beasts would be because it is the territory of a super powerful demonic beast.

Well yeah from how powerful they are it seems like you really can't prepare for it except by having an expert of your own, but it kind of makes the meticulous planning from a super intelligent man look silly. I mean I guess that is what the story has been getting at all along, that the most important matters on the Qianlong continent are beneath the notice of Xiuzhenists.

Lei Wei did say that when he discovered this planet, it was like thousands of times larger than earth and there were thousands upon thousands of Xiuzhenists, so I imagine the world is much, much larger than just the Qianlong continent. It might explain why there are so few Xiuzhenists here, since there might be hundreds of continents like this one.

I beleive thats due to concentration of holy energy in the wilderness.

I notice QinYu has started to adapt to Xiuzhenist ways of thinking and he just 19.

To reach the Yuanying stage from the Jindan stage, a Xiuzhenist must have some intuitive enlightenment.

I would like to speculate/point out that it does appear that the Xiuxianist way of practising is relatively slow compared to what we know of Xiuyaoists. Why? Well, firstly, if we were to infer from Qin Yu's example that the cultivation of energy (holy for Xiuxianist and stellar for Qin Yu's Xiuxingnist [my made up term]), then it would take many years (measured 100+) in order to move up to the next stage.

However, a Xiuyaoist is able to supplement that with the eating of jindans of other demonic beasts and while their techniques in refining is not as advanced as Xiao Hei or Qin Yu, I am willing to bet it does boost their overall cultivation by a reasonable amount.

Evidence that a normal Xiuxianist does not refine other jindan's (or perhaps they don't have a ready supply of them) is shown from Xiang Yang. He had to spent 1000+ years to get from Peak Xiantian to Early-Yuanying. At the same time, Wu De spent the same amount of time to get from Early-phase Jindan to Peak-Jindan. Ignoring the fact of the significant hurdle between each major stage (Xiantian->Jindan->Yuanying), the cultivation of the required energy to reach each stage (early->mid->late->peak) requires many many years (measured in the hundreds to get the required amount of energy.

The only reason Qin Yu is able to get to his current stage which I guess is mid-Jindan equivalent is because he had the fortune of absorbing jindans of demonic beasts. Hence that is also the reason why there are so powerful demonic beasts in the Wilderness, not just because of the higher concentration of holy energy.

I bet Xiang Yang would be shocked speechless when he meets Qin Yu, a boy (relatively speaking) that's not even out of his teens having the equiavalent power of over a 1000 years' (equivalent) practice. At the same time, Fengyuzi would be so ashamed. Actually, Wu De would be even more. He had already lamented the fact that Xiang Yang surpassed him completely despite Wu De was a early Jindan before Xiang Yang even got to that stage.

I don't know if we can use Qin Yu and Xiao Hei as the norm for the Xiuyaoist way though. He has probably the most powerful technique and cultivation methods ever created, the Meteor Tear (which is still really unknown what it can do, or what it has been doing besides healing), and top grade holy weapons with unprecedented external methods even before Stellar Transformations. He really is a freak accident so his improvement rate will be incredibly fast.

Xiao Hei is also a bit strange in that he is some crossbreed with heritage memories that give him abilities even the supposed king of eagles [golden flame] doesn't possess. His ability to use and refine jindans is also probably many times superior than normal Xiaoyaoist methods.

That said, it makes sense that practicing as well as stealing jindans would be stronger than just practicing .
