Default Why did Jin Yong choose to never show Kiu Fung using Dog-Beating Stick Technique?

As Beggar's Union Chief, Kiu Fung must have known how to use the Dog Beating Stick Technique (it's a requirement for all Beggar's Union Chiefs), and knowing his talent, Kiu Fung almost certainly mastered this exquisite skill. Throughout DGSD, however, Jin Yong never depicted Kiu Fung using the Dog Beating Stick Technique.

Does anybody know the reason that Jin Yong never depicted Kiu Fung using this skill? One a few occasions, most notably when he fought over two-hundred enemy warriors at Tsui Yin Manor, Kiu Fung probably could have made good use of the Dog Beating Stick Technique, but he never exhibited it.

It's really a shame...a missed opportunity. In THE CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY, we saw how well characters such as North Beggar Hung 7 Gung, Wong Yung, and Yeung Gor used the Dog Beating Stick Technique, so it's a shame that we never get to see Kiu Fung use it.

Maybe it wasn't created at the time? Did he ever carry the chief staff besides receiving the leader position?

When Jin Yong had not yet written DGSD, the first edition of LOCH named North Beggar Hung 7 Gung as the founder of the Beggar's Union and the inventor of the Dog Beating Stick Technique and the Hong Lung 18 Palms.

With the publication of DGSD, however, that was decanonized; Dog Beating Stick and Hong Lung 18 Palms were invented by the founder of the Beggar's Union (sometime during the T'ang Dynasty), and Kiu Fung inherited both skills from his predecessors.

Kiu Fung must have known the skill (his position as Chief requires it), but he was never shown using it in DGSD.

He was destroying everyone just fine without it

The easiest explanation would be it fits XF's image less well than XL18Z.

Maybe, but it would have been fun to see Kiu Fung put the BEAT in Dog Beating Stick. If those poor saps at Tsui Yin Manor got smashed fighting a barehanded Kiu Fung, imagine what he would have done to them with a stick.

Because Xiao Feng's stature was a man subdueing dragons, not beating dogs.

Besides, isn't he associated with wolves? A wolf beating dogs?
