Huang Xiaoming and Joe Chen Fall into a Cruel Romance

    credits to: www.jaynestars.com/tv-dramas/huang-xiaoming-and-joe-chen-fall-into-a-cruel-romance/

Upcoming mainland Chinese drama Cruel Romance <錦繡緣華麗冒險> unveiled its first video preview last week. Currently filming in Shanghai, Cruel Romance features mainland Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明) and Taiwanese actress Joe Chen (陳喬恩) as star-crossed lovers in 1930s Shanghai.

Adapted from a Republican-era novel called The Fate of Jinxiu <錦繡緣>, Cruel Romance tells the story of Rong Jinxiu (Joe Chen), a country girl who travels to Shanghai in order to discover why her entire family was killed. Along the way, she meets triad leader Zuo Zhen (Huang Xiaoming), and after a series of accidents and misunderstandings, the two fall in love.

Also vying for Jinxius attention is businessman Xiang Yingdong (Kimi Qiao 喬任梁), a businessman and close friend of Zuo Zhen. Ever protective of his woman, however, Zuo Zhen refuses to let other men even come close to Jinxiu which ultimately pays off when a villainous Japanese man (Qi Ji 戚迹) tries to finish off Jinxiu and her remaining family members.

In order to recreate the lavish style of old Shanghai, Cruel Romance invited well-known Hong Kong designer Poling Ng (吳寶玲), as well as many international designers, to fashion the costumes. The production crew also spared no expense for the dramas setting and accessories, as one of the filming locations is a villa worth more than 100 million RMB. Moreover, Huang Xiaomings character wears an antique ring more than a century old, whereas Joe is decked out in diamond jewelry worth more than 10 million RMB and totaling about 10 carats.

    Cruel Romance
will be Xiaoming and Joes second collaboration after their movie, Breaking the Waves <他说爱>, which was filmed in 2010 but is expected to be released this year.

    Default Interesting old news..

[2010.11.24] JOE CHEN, PETER HO JOIN FILMKO

    credits to: http://hktopten.blogspot.com/2010/11...in-filmko.html

Joe Chen Qiao-En and Peter Ho Yun Tung earlier officially joined Filmko. According to Filmko, as early as two years ago the company has been in touch with both. At the time Qiao-En focused on television. At the end of last year she decided to switch to the Mainland and the big screen. Since she and her former management company parted ways peacefully, she was able to work with Filmko. As for Ho Yun Tung who always had a dream to direct, since several years ago he has been looking for the right company to work with. Filmko last year opened a branch in Taiwan. He discovered that Filmko was willing to try fresh topics and thus they decided to unite in less than two meals.

Reportedly Filmko's fantasy epic THE MONKEY KING (DAI LAU TIN GUNG) also helped the contract signings. Two years ago when the film was brewing, Qiao-En and Ho Yun Tung have already decided to play Princess Iron Fan and Erlang Shen. Thus THE MONKEY KING was a welcome gift for them. As for their future direction and development, Filmko said that Ho Yun Tung already had very successful attempts and experience as a producer. The company also hoped to be able to fulfill his director dream. Qiao-En hoped through more excellent film characters and big films to create her big screen image.

Peter Ho and Joe Chen will be acting in Chinese film 「大鬧天宮」together with various Hong Kong big actors, and both of them have taken on a different form of collaboration with Filmko Entertainment. Peter Ho will have at least 1 big film every year and also the possibility of fulfilling his dreams of being a director. Joe Chen will hand her endorsement, event rights in China to Filmko Entertainment and the company can help to arrange for movies for her too.

Peter and Joe both have outstanding performances in idol dramas and thus gained the interest of many different management companies in China and Hong Kong. After Peter worked with Zhang Ziyi in movie 「非常完美」, 5 or 6 movie companies approached him and after serious considerations, he chose to work with Filmko whose plans are similar to his. Filmko hopes that Peter will be able to focus his acting on the movies in the future and for dramas, depending on the quality of scripts, he will take on 1 or 2 per year to prevent over-exposure. They will arrange for him to star in a big production every year and also cater some movies directly for him. Earlier, Peter produced and directed "Summers' Desire", building a reputation for himself and he has aims to move towards directing. Filmko will help him achieve this dream as well.

Idol drama queen Joe Chen will be acting in 「大鬧天宮」 as Princess Iron Fan, having numerous scenes with Arron Kwok, two times winner of Golden Horse Award, who is acting as the Buffalo Demon King. She will still be under 「雙城娛樂」for her management rights but for China events, she'll be working with Filmko and movies arranged by Filmko will have priority considerations, aiming to balance both China, Taiwan and Hong Kong market.

The Monkey King Releases Final Trailer

    credits to: http://www.jaynestars.com/movies/the...comment-344561

The final trailer for the 3D fantasy epic The Monkey King <西遊記之大鬧天宮> was released online on January 24, 2014. The action film, a co-produced between Hong Kong and mainland China, is directed by Cheang Pou Soi (鄭保瑞) and features an ensemble superstar cast including Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Chow Yun Fat (周潤發), Aaron Kwok (郭富城), Kelly Chen (陳慧琳),Gigi Leung (梁詠琪), Joe Chen (陳喬恩), and Peter Ho (何潤東).

    The Monkey King
is a retelling of the origin of Sun Wukong, the protagonist of the Chinese classical novel Journey to the West <西遊記>. According to legend, Sun Wukong, a monkey born from a stone, rebels against the Heavenly Kingdom after the Jade Emperor demotes him to a stable boy. To maintain order, the Jade Emperor brings together all the spiritual forces of Heaven to capture Sun Wukong, who single-handedly defeats 100,000 celestial warriors. With the help of the Buddha, Sun Wukong ultimately gets imprisoned under a mountain. Five centuries later, Sun Wukong is offered to serve as the disciple of the monk Tang Sanzang.

Donnie Yen, also the films action choreographer, stars as Sun Wukong. Chow Yun Fat stars as the Jade Emperor, while Aaron Kwok and Joe Chen respectively star as the Bull Demon King and Princess Iron Fan, a pair of lovers with divided loyalty. Peter Ho portrays the great warrior Erlang Shen, the nephew of the Jade Emperor. Kelly Chen portrays Guan Yin, the deity who brings Sun Wukong out of his dungeon so he can assist Tang Sanzang. Gigi Leung portrays Change, the moon goddess.

Zhang Zilin (張梓琳), 2007 Miss World winner, is introduced in the film as Nuwa, the mother of mankind. Eddie Cheung (張兆輝) makes an appearance as the pagoda-bearing Li Jing, while Carlson Cheng (鄭家星) and Him Law (羅仲謙) star as Li Jings two sons, Li Nezha and Li Muzha, respectively.
The Monkey King will be released on January 30, 2014 in Hong Kong theaters.

Definitely will watch this in my local 3D.. I like action movie. I'm not expect Joe to have too much screen time, after all this is male oriented movie. But Princess Iron Fan will play a key role between deties and demons, and l'm looking forward to see Bull Demon King - Princess Iron Fan couple and this big production have most of the stars I like to watch =)

    http://tw.movie.campaign.yahoo.net/m...mend.php?aid=6

First paragraph says that not only is she Dongfang Bubai in Swordsman, but she will also be in 2014's Monkey King movie. She gave herself a month break in the midst of all her work, but she has not forgotten Taiwan. Because she is Taiwanese she hopes to spend the next six months working with a Taiwanese director.

Second paragraph says that she took a month off in 2013 to go to New York to study language and acting, after she completed shooting Swordsman and a stage play called "The Breadfruit Tree Woman".

Third paragraph said she decided to go to New York now because she figured she would be too busy in the future to do so. In two or three years she may getting married and have a baby. She enjoyed her time in New York and rode the subway everyday to and from class; she enjoyed life. For safety she lived on 54th Street, but it was very expensive.

Second page: People recognized her in New York and called her 教主 (Founder of a religious sect). She also saw a lot of performances in New York. The most lasting impression came from analyzing some play called Sleep No More, and she talks about all the different roles in the play and them shuttling back and forth. She said spectators could go out and buy liquor and come back in and watch the play and she thinks that was really cool.

In 2014 she will not giver herself a break but will be busy all the time. She has to shoot another drama called 錦繡緣華麗冒險 (Cruel Romance) alongside Huang Xiaoming. Shooting will last until the end of the month. After CNY, she has to shoot another period drama and then a movie. Already half of 2014 is booked up.

But she wants to reserve the second half of 2014 for Taiwan. She wants to go back to Taiwan and do Taiwanese dramas. Lately their have been a lot of mainland-Taiwan joint productions, but she wants to stay in Taiwan this year and work with a Taiwanese director because she is Taiwanese. She emphasized she has no one in particular in mind to work with, be it directors or actors, she just wants to learn and practice more.

She has praise for others as well, marking out the court drama 全民目擊 (Silent Witness) as leaving the deepest impression on her. Aside from the actors, she liked the speeches the lawyers gave. She also praised the second Hunger Games movie as better than the first. She was angry after watching the first movie (doesn't say why).

So there you go. Basic translate, but that's the gist of it.
