Looking at the pictures, I'm satisfied with the casting. Ding Dang is beautiful and has the intelligent look. The actor who is casted as Shi Po Tian also look right after taking off the facial hair. Shi Qing and Min Ruo look heroic enough.

I actually didn't like the Tony version. I preferred the TW version w/ Max Mok and the 2002 mainland version. The Ding Dang from 2002 was quite annoying (not to mention when she breaks out into song and dance). And ugly costumes. But I did like the extension on the Shi Jian role.

I like the Taiwan version for extending the role of Shi Zhongyu, but, didn't when overboard like the TVB version. I feel that it enriches the original story. I dislike the TVB version for turning Shi Potian into a supporting character. But, at the same time, I have to thank it for introducing me to the SPT character and make me determine to learn to read chinese to read the novel. :P
2002 version has ugly costume (is the production crew so limited in budget?) and the dancing part is silly. But, the storytelling is not bad.

Personally, of the 3 actors who played SPT in the 3 adaptations, I feel that Wu Jing in the 2002 version acted the best. Better than Tony Leung. Tony Leung tried to show the differences too extremely, and still need to different hairstyle to differentiate the twins. When Wu Jing first appeared as Shi Zhongyu, I immediately know it's him eventhough the hairstyle and clothing didn't change and Shi Zhongyu has not speak yet. Just by the subtle facial expressing and body language, I know it's not SPT. Wu Jing was able to portray 2 different characters with going to extreme in portrayal.

Anyone know when's this gonna air on chinese TV? It's been half a year since they finished shooting, is post-production always this long? I found posters, but not sure whether these are official or fanmade.

Does anyone have any pics of Kent Tong as Bai Zizai? I'm really curious about that one. Looking at the pics I'm assuming that Norman is Xie Yanke? I have no clue who Waisie is supposed to be - can't think of any monk in the series with any substantial role. Shi Qing and Min Rou also look good, but it looks like they reversed the colours and made Shi Qing white and Min Rou black...

I wonder which edition they will follow, which will determine whether I love Ding Dang or hate her with a passion..... she looks really cute in the pictures, but that won't change my impression of her if she does the unforgivable. I also loved the Tony Leung version until I read the novel, now I just can't stand it... it was more of a Tony Leung fanservice serial than the actual Xiakexing.

p.s. I also see some LOCH 2003 pictures mixed in there. Brings back good memories and makes me feel 10 years younger.

Bei Haishi isn't really the main antagonist - he was just conveniently used as the main antagonist for both the previous versions because the original story didn't have a climatic villain to fight at the end. In the novel, Bei Haishi was cunning, scheming and more than a little ruthless (but then again, so was Xie Yanke), but was totally humbled at the end when Shi Potian voluntarily went to the island on behalf of the Changle Clan even though he knew it was a trap and that he didn't have to anymore, because he felt responsible for it, and believed that Dr Bei had treated him well and he should fulfill his duty. Dr Bei kind of faded away from the plot after that, but he felt really humbled, and I believe in that moment, Shi Potian earned his undying loyalty.

Apparently this series will broadcast on TV January/February 2016, no specific reason has been announced for the delay. It consists of 40 episodes. I think we can expect for a trailer release around November/December.

Meanwhile, Zhang Ji Zhong is currently on pre-production of his own adaptation of "The Book and The Sword" that will start shooting at the end of the year and the series will consist of 30 episodes with 4-months shooting period scheduled. I will create a new thread for this once the cast is officially announced.

I believe, his next project is "Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain" once TBTS finish shooting next year.

This is ZJZ's production, isn't it ? I'm so excited for this . It's been a long time since I watched a 'true wuxia' series again, plus it's Jin Yong's story. Now, I actually won't mind a little modification/improvisation, as long the essence of the story remains true to the original

the novel didn't explain why they looked alike. They ended the novel without explanation and left the readers guessing, although the case was pretty obvious to me.

I agree. That is one thing that I hope is changed in the adaptation. I dont know about the previous versions, but I hope this one gives a satisfaction change/interpretation. I'm liking the actors and trailers so far, so I put my hope on this. The lead actor (Cai Yuda?) seems to be suitable as an innocent person, as well as a naughty one.
