    Well...
Coiled Dragon does have a Western/European feel to it.
The description of some characters are like Europeans.
Some of the story plot-lines have Western mythological elements.
It struck me that the beginning have strong King Arthur Pendragon/Merlin/Western Magecraft influence.

I still would prefer using pinyin for the names... but Western/European names would work just fine.
I think translator preference and comfort zone should be the determining factor here.

If they were originally western names, using the closest English name that comes to mind with out research is just as accurate.

I would prefer the English name if this is suppose to be western based.

Thanks everyone - looks like most people are of the opinion to translate into English, and that was what I was leaning towards, so that's what I'll do. I hope everyone can also assist in some of the re-transliterations into English, if they feel like mine are off. I'll start soon, but I won't be at full speed until 2 weeks from now. Cheers!

I personally prefer to Pinyin, but whatever polling result, we'll still enjoy your translation

Hey Ren Wo Xing, glad to see you back and starting a new translation. I will be looking forward to your high quality work.

I would say use the original English names, because the end result will be in English and using English names flow better. Using transliterated name in Chinese pinyin is akin to John Minford's version of The Deer and the Cauldron using English names for Chinese characters: i.e. sounds awkward.

Voted English... but bearing in mind the extra effort needed, I think we'll leave you to make the call yeah? Whatever the case, thanks for translating. You definitely Xing!
