Well, even the War Lords where strong enough to notice it when he scanned the room, so these War Gods would instantly know where he was, and besides, the monster hoard is enough to scare him off, since it has quite a few commander level beasts. As for whether it's similar or not you could just read and judge for yourself. I personally don't think they're that similar since CD and ST have a more magical fantasy feel to them than SS does. But it will probably become like that later in the story.

If you want to seek similarity you should check Desolate Era it is quite similar to SS IMHO....
