I'll be a Philistine and say that I only ever saw him in Jumanji (I think I missed all his best movies), but I'll never forget his voice in Aladdin.

    It's sad.
Drug and alcohol destroy too many lives.

He had Parkinson's, which is a bigger explanation of why he committed suicide. It's incredibly hard to deal with the fact that you will slowly lose control of your body. Many things we take for granted are life changing things. When you can no longer control your bladder, limbs, and other body parts....suicide is not a terrible option.

Celebrity or not, it's a terrible position to be in and I'll always side with whatever the person decides, be it toughing it out or ending it.

Apart from early stage of Parkinson, he was suffering from bipolar disorder but never get treated properly. His streak in classic comedic roles and burst of genius could be a mirror of the positive side of this disorder. He is one of my favorite actors. Such a tragic end to a legend.

Well, he had millions so he could get the best healthcare/treatment that money can buy.

I saw this on my facebook and wanted to share this link. It's a video he recorded before he committed suicide.

EDIT: LINK DELETED. Thanks Tape for the warning.

Money doesn't solve everything. If it did people like Steve Jobs or Stephen Hawkings would not be dead/dying.

I understand your views by now TC, but sometimes you just have to respect the fact that shit happens, and sympathize with their situation rather than look for something to criticize. By all accounts he was a great person, and whether he abused drugs or not is irrelevant when he seems to have done much more good than harm.

I do acknowledge that he was a great person. However, if he didn't abuse drug and alcohol, he would not end up this way.
