Given how many Chinese characters have the exact same tonal pronunciations. I was thinking, say Fighter A and B squared off and A asked B, so what is your swordplay named. B's answer of say '恶鱼剑' (Evil Fish Swordplay) could be interpreted as 鳄鱼剑 (Crocodile Swordplay) by A.
In that spirit, lets come up with FUN or alternate names for the famous Kung-Fus we are familiar with. The only rules should be that the tones of the alternative pronunciation must be exact with the original. You can change 燕 'swallow' (yan4) to 艳 'glamourous' (yan4) but not to 烟 'smoke' (yan1).
Lets try :
7 Injury Fist (七伤拳)becomes : 7 Commercial Fist (七商拳)
Dugu Jiu Jian (独孤九剑)becomes:Poisonous Mushroom Wine Sword(毒菰酒剑)** or Lonely Aunty 9 Swords (独姑九剑)
6MSJ (六脉神剑)becomes :6 Sales Divine Swords
Dragon Palms becomes Deafness Curing Palms etc etc.
** I wanted to use this swordplay long ago in the Ultimate RPG story with the guy pouring poisonous mushroom wine onto his sword blade before the fight, and using only the English description to see how many of you would get it. Too bad that thread died before I got around to it.
