Default Is there a wuxia story in which the "good guys" are honestly the good guys?

It's almost a cliche in wuxia stories: the so-called "orthodox" sects, supposedly the virtuous defenders of justice, are actually evil, ambitious groups who resort to bullying and numbers to attack the supposedly evil "demonic" sect, which is actually much less evil (though hardly saints) than the orthodox sects and much less hypocritical. We see this in Jin Yong's HSDS and SPW, and Gu Long's FULL MOON, CURVED SABRE.

It's such a cliche that you almost expect it. Is there any wulin story, however, where by and large the orthodox sects really are true blue heroes and men of virtue? It would almost be a nice exception to the general rule.

Reincarnated. Most of the people from Wudang and Emei are good people with few bad apples whereas most people from the evil sects are actually evil.

The original point of the 'bad apples' saying is that they cause everything else to rot with them, not that they are an exception to the rule...

With that said, Wudang wasn't especially upstanding - Wun Feiyeung was relentlessly bullied, and everyone either turned a blind eye to it or actively encouraged it. The head of the sect was an adulterer and persistent rule-breaker (had an illegitimate child and secretly taught him martial arts behind everyones' backs). The martial uncles (except for Yin Chongtin) were useless buffoons who only cared about their own status. Even the Silkworm art was stolen/plagarised from the 'evil' sects.

On the 'evil' side, you also had decent people like Fu Heunggwan, Dugu Feng and (perhaps) Gongshuen Wang.

So in other words, the cliche truly is a cliche...no known exceptions to the rule in the whole of wuxia fiction?

How about "On the waterfront"? Pretty much all the people from the good sect are good and demon sect are bad.

Umm, yeah. Every story besides the 3 you mentioned
