Okay, I really like this novel, but, this was the most pointless killing I've ever read about. He killed a wolf. For absolutely no reason. He was clearly stronger than it. So why did he have to kill? Wolves are not only pack animals, they have 1 mate for life and if that mate dies they never mate again. Plus these were highly intelligent wolves. What if the wolf he killed had a mate? Obviously the other wolves would want revenge. He literally created a cycle of death and violence and you can't say the wolves were dumb creatures then Xei Yu was a dumb creature before it underwent the tribulations. Just because you are stronger, does not mean you just kill. He needs to freaking grow up. He did what Xang Emperor did and the wolves responded the way his father responded- started a war. Waw friggin wow. The worst thing is his disregard for life shown here and the pain he didn't even realise he inflicted was soul deep.

What a disgusting mentality.

Can't tell how serious you are but if that's how you feel, you should probably save yourself some time and annoyance and stop reading ST. You're only going to hate it more. Strength means everything and those strong enough can do whatever they want simply because it pleases them.

I don't think the tone of Stellar Transformations really changes from this much. There's this power fantasy aspect of ST where the protagonist gets to basically do whatever he wants because the world revolves around him. If you read far enough in the he-man translation thread, this topic gets brought up after Qin Yu does certain things and I found it really interesting how many defended Qin Yu's actions.

After that, I wondered what would happen if IET wrote xianxia in which if the main character was presented with (and takes) a series of increasingly questionable trades of morality vs. power, to see how far he could push things, but that kind of story isn't really what the target audience is looking for.

Coiling Dragon, the sequel is better in this regard though as well as in a couple other ways.
