Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung) recently shot an ad for a Mainland real estate development (right). After the shoot of a forty episode Taiwanese television series she had signed on for was postponed, Leung is cooling her heels until the Taiwanese television adaptation of STORM RIDERS starts shooting in January. Leung: "It doesn't matter. I'm treating it like I'm on a long vacation. I'm still planning it. I'm thinking of going to Guam and Australia for a holiday. It'll be like I'm on a long honeymoon."

Marsha Yuen Chi-Wai, Monica Chan Fat-Yung, and Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung) share the same manager. As a result, on Lunar New Year's Day, they gathered outside the office of their manager for a photo opportunity. While Leung plans to spend her holidays at home with her new husband Chan Ka-Fai, Monica Chan Fat-Yung will be off to Japan. Chan: "I'll be leaving tomorrow for Japan with my parents. I'm treating them to a holiday. Actually, I got to Japan every year. This year I wanted to go some place warm for some sun. But my parents want to go to Japan for some shopping." After a little over a year of marriage, Noel Leung Siu-Bing (aka Vivien Leung) and husband Chan Ka-Fai are currently in Hawaii for a vacation. Leung: "There are two reasons for this trip. First, to get some rest and relaxation. Second, we have to make up for our honeymoon. We were so busy with projects when we got married, we had to hold off the honeymoon until now."

When Leung returns, she will begin work on the historical drama SI YIM MAN (title is a name) for Taiwanese television.

Yesterday, Cecilia Cheung Bak-Chi and Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung) attended a press conference promoting their new RTHK radio play CHUEN SAN GAAP YAN (SANNEY: It's hard to do a translation of the title but it has something to do with a disease). In the play, Cheung gives voice to a character who has sores all over her body and has no eyelids, ears or hair. Asked if she feels she has enough life experience to draw upon to play the character, Cheung answered: "I remember a couple of years ago when there was a supposed triad order out to 'rape and kill me'. The police locked me in a hotel room for close to a month. It was a really tense time but I told myself not to get down and not to be afraid. It will soon pass. When you are faced with adversity, you shouldn't give up so easily. I'm really disappointed to hear all the news about suicides lately. When you are surrounded by problems, the most important thing is to step back and think what you should do next. You need to stay optimistic. In the end, things will work out." Seung Tin-Ngor, a television star whose fame peaked with TVB in the mid to late 1980s, is making a comeback after signing with ATV yesterday. Her first project, FAI GAP DING DING DONG (lit. QUICK DONE DING DING DONG), will start shooting next month. The series is being produced by former TVB producer Chan Bo-Wah and will star another actress looking to make a comeback -- Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung). Asked why she chose to sign with ATV, Seung answered: "A lot of it had to do with having the chance to work with Chan Bo-Wah again. Also, there is more freedom with ATV. Besides working on television serials, I can do some hosting or maybe even some singing."

Also coming later this year are serials starring Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung), Crystal Tin Yui-Nei and Alice Chan Wai among others. Commenting on his expectations from the star-studded lineup, ATV executive Chan Wing-Kei remarked: "I'm hoping for some consistency in our ratings. I'm confident that with our upcoming new programmes we can pull our ratings above ten ratings points. I think MILLIONAIRE even has a chance of making it to forty ratings points."

Miss Hong Kong 2001 Shirley Yeung Si-Kei joined runners-up Heidi Chu Hoi-Tung and Gigi Chung Pui-Chi at an event promoting registration for the Miss Hong Kong 2002 Pageant yesterday. Previously, rumours emerged suggesting registration for this year's Pageant is down. Addressing the rumours, TVB executive Ho Lai-Chuen told reporters that enrollment is up this year over last year and, because of that, this year's Pageant may have twenty-one or twenty-two finalists instead of the usual twenty. The deadline for registration is May 15th. Location shooting for this year's Pageant is expected to take place in Guam.

As she got her start through the Miss Hong Kong Pageant, Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung) was also at the event. Speaking to reporters from Oriental Daily News, Leung revealed that she and husband Chan Ka-Fai are currently planning to start a family. The couple would like to have two kids. Related image:

While Ada Choi is busy working on her new TVB drama, Choi's sisters-in-Christ -- Athena Chu Yan and Monica Chan Fat-Yung -- are busy with their own pursuits. Chu is currently in the Mainland working on a new Mainland television series. The series is filming on location in Kunming and Shanghai. As for Monica Chan, she and Jacky Lui Jung-Yin recently got teaching certificates for scuba diving. Chan wanted to give her friends Chu, Choi and Vivien Leung Siu-Bing (aka Noel Leung) lessons but they are all too busy. As a result, Chan has had to content herself with teaching Felix Wong Yat-Wah. Jacky Lui, by contrast, has two students: Dior Wong Yi-Man and Shaun Tam Jun-Yin. Commenting on being a scuba diving instructor, Chan remarked: "I never thought about teaching diving before but an instructor told me one day that I had talent and should go for it. I ended up getting my certificate on the first try. I was really nervous before the test. I couldn't eat and I couldn't sleep. Luckily, it went well and I didn't let anyone down."

Besides, my husband is willing to be my chauffeur if it means I don't drive."

In addition to appearing in television series, Leung keeps herself busy these days with stage appearances in the Mainland.

After spending the past few years working on Mainland and Taiwanese television series, Vivien Leung Siu-Bing is moving back to the Hong Kong market. Recently, she shot an ad for a skin cleanser (left). In July, she will start work on a series for ATV. While she has made progress in her professional career, she has suffered a setback in her personal life as her father suffered a stroke earlier this year. Leung: "My father had a stroke recently and half his body is paralyzed. He can't move very well. Because we want to look after him better, my husband and I have moved back to the Sai Kung district. We've also hired two people to watch over him all the time. My other siblings have children, I don't yet so I'm taking up more of the responsibility. I had wanted to travel with my father when he retired but that's out. My father has never been on a plane before."
