Post Who do you think is the most famous Gu Long hero (in reality)?

I guess the four most famous, popular and well-known Gu Long hero (in reality) would have to be:

    - "Thievf General" Chu Liuxiang
    - "Four Eyebrows" Lu Xiaofeng
    - Ximen Chuixue aka Simon the Snow Blower
    - "Little Li's Flying Dagger" Li Xunhuan

Among them (or others), who do you think is the most famous GL hero in reality? Famous as in most people had heard of the hero's name before, including people who doesn't or have little interaction with wuxia stuffs.

I would guess its CLX. (although LXH's nickname of "Little Li's Flying Dagger" is quite well-known too..)

I think Chor Lau Heung is the most famous because of the HUGE success of the 1970s TVB series starring Adam Cheng.

The TV adaptations of LUK SIU FUNG and SENTIMENTAL SWORDSMAN, RUTHLESS SWORD were also popular, but the old CHOR LAU HEUNG series, after being a huge hit in Hong Kong during the late 1970s, went on to become a sensation in Taiwan when the series was broadcast there during the early 1980s. News reports from Taiwan at the time indicated audiences going absolutely nuts over TVB's CHOR LAU HEUNG. Adam Cheng practically became a god in Taiwan for a few years.

I'd say LITTLE LI FLYING DAGGER Li Xunhuan. His TITLE is what makes him famous.

I would also say Li Xunhuan, but not for the same reason as PJ. CLX comes pretty close though.

I would say Chor Lau Heung. He is the man that all men wannabe and the man that all women wannabe with...

Regarding Little Li's Flying Dagger, I don't see he has much female fans as he dumped his lover so that his best friend can have her...

I give CHOR LAU HEUNG the nod not only because of the extraordinary popularity of the TV series adapted from his novel, but also because his novel series bears his name. As difficult as it is to believe, Gu Long never wrote a novel titled LITTLE LEE'S FLYING DAGGER. Lee Chum Foon's adventures were chronicled in a novel oddly titled SENTIMENTAL SWORDSMAN, RUTHLESS SWORD. No mention of Lee's name...or even a flying dagger.

And why would the amount of female fans even matter in this case?

But how many adaptions bears the novel title? Not many. Most of them are called Little Li Flying Dagger, further reflecting on the popularity of this household name.

The original title of Chu Liuxiang's novel is something like Legend of the Iron Blood, but Gu Long subsequently changed it.

Definitely Li Xunhuan. But I suspect most non-hardcore wuxia fans would not know of the name Li Xunhuan or the book title Duo Qing Jian Ke Wu Qing Jian. Instead they will know Xiao Li Fei Dao.

I think Roman Tam's song 'Xiao Li Fei Dao' helped his fame too.

BTW, I think Duo Qing Jian Ke Wu Qing Jian is also the COOLEST wuxia title ever.

I would say Chu Liuxiang. This name is repeated the most IMO.

Yes, totally agreed. People who know almost nothing about wuxia know about Xiao Li Fei Dai.

See what I mean? The term "Siu Lee Fei Do" causes people to think of the actual weapon rather than the character Lee Chum Foon.

Of course I don't only think about the weapon. I think about the alcoholic who wields the weapon too.

Xiao Li Fei Dao is by far the most famous, but... that's only applicable to this example if you count it as a point for the character.

I'm surprised that there's no votes for Lu Xiaofeng.

This might sound weird, but the level of well-known/famous of the characters probably differs by region. Most of the people around me had heard of LXF before, but not Chu Liuxiang or Li Xunhuan. Of course they knew Little Li Flying Dagger - but I'm pretty sure they didn't know that the Little Li's name is Li Xunhuan.

That's what I think too. The popularity of the name "LITTLE LI'S FLYING DAGGER" stems largely from its cool chinese name "小李飞刀".

And guess what? I'm sure most people who haven't read or watch the novel would think that "飞刀" is flying knife or flying chopper but in actual fact, its a "flying dagger"!!!

I happen to be one of those people in the past.
