Well, werent those changes minor ones? Because, from what I understand about GJ (the novel and previous adaptations), he had always wanted to cancel the engagement deep in his heart. He didnt really like it since the beginning, then he fell for HR. When he went back to Mongolia, he wanted to ask the Khan to cancel it officially. I think this version only makes him confirming what he has always wanted? and that doesnt make him become irresponsible, since he was shown to reject it in the beginning. Please CMIIW, though.
Btw guys, regarding YK :

Has he chosen WYHL since the beginning? So, he has been pretending to be nice in front of everyone?? He was genuinely mad when he found out about his father's killing, but he still chose WYHL while pretending to be good??
Pls CMIIW if I misunderstood the drama. But if I'm right, then this YK is really cunning. He got me fooled there, but I dont mind
. This YK didnt have a wicked smile or evil smirk like what other villain-pretending-to-be-good usually did. Instead, he looked genuinely sad when he saw MNC talking happily about their future (just guessing, pls CMIIW).
Anyway, now I dont understand whether he is really evil or is still being doubtful deep inside.
And what is he doing by capturing MCF? Is he looking for the Nine Yin manual?
Anyway, I like GJ-ZBT, esp when ZBT forced GJ to be brothers
. This ZBT is funny. OYF-OYK looked warm too. And finally, the Nine Yin manual!
Looking forward for epi 23.
The scene where GJ was forced to bow as brothers with ZBT was too funny! William Yang's expression was priceless! And ZBT was amazing too...
As per your question, I think YK was
click to show/hide spoilers genuinely mad when he learned from Duan Tiande about the real circumstances behind BXR-YTX separation. But then, things started to change since YK confronted WYHL in the temple (where MNC was hidden inside a coffin). I think for that scene, YK genuinely wanted to kill WYHL in the first place, but he changed his mind after he saw the tiger claws on WYHL's hand.
Later in ep 21 then YK was tempted by the wealth and power that WYHL offered him; but YK was firm in wanting to kill WYHL in ep 16-17.
My two cents.
