Just finished watching all 48 episodes of Mystic Nine. My thoughts:


- Show is very addictive. My HD source for downloadable episodes got cut off at ep 33. I just had to watch the rest no matter if it was very low quality YT videos.
- It really is Nine Mystic warriors (Sailor Scouts) battling the Japanese invasion (Negaverse) mixed with elements of STAR WARS prequels where Chen Pi (Anakin) hates on his Master, Er Ye (ObiWan) and tries to get revenge.
- I nearly rolled my eyes when Chen Pi called that girl who saved him Ya Tou. Really thought he had an Oedipus complex wrt his Master's wife. But Ya Tou was really her childhood name.
- Chen Pi turned out to be an admirable char afterall by saving Ya Tou the Second from that evil Japanese woman.
- Surprise ending/plot twist was really good. They all joined Fo Ye on the battlefield.
- Everything served a purpose to the whole story, even the supposed Chieftain's side story arc. Such is the hallmark of good storytelling.


My verdict: 9.5/10

BTW, the movie version of this show is Mojin: The Lost Legends (2015). It's the exact same story with these differences:

- The meteorite in the movie actually animates the dead, unlike Mystic Nine where it only causes brain wave hallucinations.
- There are less main characters than nine.
- Feels better seeing main char almost strangle Japanese actress on the screen. Mystic Nine felt awkward seeing Chinese ppl in Japanese roles.
- There are no elements from the STAR WARS in the movie, instead we're treated to the anime Inuyasha's favorite flower (that only grows near graves, I forgot its English name, ie. in scenes featuring Kikyo's animated body.)



This red flower from Inuyasha is the main theme of Mojin: The Lost Legends movie (legend has it that if you spot this spooky flower while meeting someone, you will never see them again, hence why this flower is in scenes with Kikyo b/c Inuyasha could never be with her again):

I only like when ZLY appear on ep 10.
I also like when William Chan realize that he also like her although he keep chasing her out from his house.. hahahaha

but too bad the romance between William and ZLY not show in every episode.

Haha agree I only watch this show for ZLY, every time she comes on she steals the scene, she is so adorable...I find the rest of the show slow, except for the fight scenes.
