In numerous wuxia series and movies, characters are depicted drinking tea from cups known as gaiwan, as depicted below:

Irrespective of time period, characters are frequently shown drinking tea from such cups, but according to Wikipedia, gaiwan were not invented until some time during the Ming Dynasty. Prior to the Ming Dynasty, people in China drank tea straight from the brewing pot, or perhaps out of more generic bowls.

In wuxia series and movie adaptations, however, characters are shown serving and consuming tea from gaiwan, even if the story is set during the Yuan, Sung, or even earlier dynasties.

This is clearly an aspect of culture and history that wuxia filmmakers do not look closely into when researching for their work...or perhaps they are aware of the fact that the gaiwan did not exist before Ming times, and simply ignore that fact because they are more visually appealing than generic bowls or drinking tea out of the brewing pot.
