Looks good. I'm hoping he'll turn into the awesome DFBB soon!
And seriously, someone called Dong Fang *Bu Bai* needs to be at the pinnacle of success. The boss. Not a subordinate who kneels and bows.
I'm afraid thus far I haven't quite been enjoying his part of the show. Too contrived and cheesy for me. Especially when juxtaposed with LHC's part of the show, which comprises primarily JY's masterpiece.
For me, the marked contrast between the storytelling/writing skills of JY and the show's writers is made more apparent by the frequent cutting back and forth between LHC's and DFBB's scenes.
This DFBB actor's performance feels a bit forced and unnatural to me.

I've seen probable explanation that the rock bottom Douban rating is due to lack of famous cast who would have numerous fanboy fangirls voting 5 rating to forcefully bring up the score.
Previously I mentioned about actors & horses
Last night I spotted another common acting flaw which could be avoided
TianMen priest taking a few seconds to put his sword back into the sheath.
Understandably the actors are not real swordsmen , but the director should not include such a flaw that kick us from their fantasy world back into reality.
YueBuQun chasing LHC around the monastery compound, going up the stairs with heavy footsteps , no jumping flying at all. More reality than Wuxia.

Also, I think for those who follows the novel closely, may not be following the series since there is quite a fair part of differences.
If I am not mistaken, wuxiarocks - possibly one of the hard-heart wxuia fan, did not watch this series.
If you ask me what I can recommend to others to watch the series, I will possibly say the actresses who act as RYY and Yilin. Both are quite adorable.

Not surprised it's rated lowly with the new actors/actresses and a change of plot. I need them to hurry up and get the 3 dudes to chop their dick off and get the plot moving cause it feels like there's not enough time for evil DFBB to get enough screen time.
Gonna be annoyed if they end up making DFBB a good guy at the end though.
Fan speculation based on the trailer and music video , LFH will go missing leaving behind her black/red gown for DFBB who mistaken her as dead. When DFBB is defeated in the main hall and running outdoor , LFH pops out and save him. Either they both die with bloody mouth or they survive to lead a reclusive life.
Ugh, I was hoping for RWX to actually kill LFH instead of this sappy bullshit happy ending crap. That also doesn't sound like DFBB is gonna cut the carrot and go crazy and powerful.
On a side note, whilst the lack of CGI is refreshing, they made dugu 9 sword seem pathetic. The power levels of LHC fluctuate so randomly, I feel like he should be instagibbing some of the shitters he duels but he's just so bleh. The fights in Shaolin just sucked. Also RYY is cute.
This series seems to make it like LFH as the "ambitious" one. Always warning and persuading DFBB to take over RWX.
LHC should be invincible now. But it always seem strange that he has to fight so hard. Can't understand how he can be defeated/ambushed by Mute Grandma easily.
Yes, RYY may have saved this series.

Does anyone know the title of the sub song in ep 12 (when LHC held a farewell party with his Mt Hua sect's brothers) or where to find the full version?
I think this song is the best one among the OST. Lyrics is quite meaningful
万里好江河
站马飞过
英雄泪也曾洒过
明月问谁为谁哭过
何时再见面
....
(they only played a short part of this song)

Low, low.
I feel bad for the cast and crew.
LHC did that too back when he met Fang Sheng monk for the first time and they fought briefly. Funny.
I read your post before watching the episode so I couldn't not notice it. Yeah, heavy, and somewhat clumsy.
Ep 21: The fight at Shaolin was rather nice (though I couldn't quite see clearly how LHC defeated YBQ, to the point that the latter couldn't even stand up). As was the snow scene. Overall, an enjoyable episode for me.
Zuo Lengchan and his Songshan folks. How and why is Songshan deemed a righteous sect?
Thanks for the pics and vid! Such fun they had while filming.
Though I think, in the book, the bad guy was Yang Lianting, right? DFBB was highly-skilled and greatly-feared but beyond cooping himself up in his room with his needlework, didn't actually do anything.
Right? But I think this part in the book is rather silly as well. Can't remember the book all too clearly now though.
In the show, I enjoyed that cute scene that took place after LHC/RYY had captured Mute Grandma and was breaking the news to Yilin's dad. The dad's reaction was cute.
Just completed Ep 26. I've been skipping all of the LFH/DFBB/RWX/Hei Mu Ya parts since many episodes back. Interesting how doing that hasn't affect my understanding of the main story. It feels as though theirs is an entirely separate show altogether.
Yu Cang Hai. He's gone from unscrupulous and despicable, to amusing and skulking, and now to pathetic and crazed. I now feel sorry for him.
I don't recall LHC attending the wedding of YLS and LPZ in the book. Much less being this happy about his Xiao Shi Mei marrying another guy.
YBQ has the facade thing down pat. In Ep 26, when he was with LHC in the study room and then the caves, and also at the wedding dinner, he seemed nice and kindly. I found myself wanting him to be a good guy after all, a good Shifu.
The whole Huashan visit was simply heartwarming. The two disciples standing guard at the door still respectfully and happily addressing LHC as "Da Shi Xiong" upon his arrival was aww-inducing. And then those scenes between him and YBQ (and wife). They even agreed to him re-joining Huashan in the near future.
The LHC and RYY scene at the end of Ep 26 was cute as well. They looked happy and comfortable together, which was nice to watch.
Behind-the-scenes Part 2 (3minute) https://v.qq.com/x/cover/8jkko7n7si6...26k1gd3x.html?
They're not. Only they see themselves as such. The rest just goes along, because of politic. The aliance was created to take down Sun Moon sect, but in truth, they just want to merge into a unification under one. In a sense, they're the villain.
That's the intrigue aspect of the character. It's not what DFBB does, it's who DFBB is. An end product of power.
Thanks! Hardworking bunch 👍🏻
I feel bad for them. Only 2.4/10 after all that hard work and effort 🙁
True.
Villain indeed. It’s a shame they’re the good guys on paper, so to speak. They’re not called demons, witches, evil and all those names that the orthodox folks of Wulin use when referring to people from the supposedly dark side. Having a friend from Songshan will not lead to a big fuss.
