    Default Zu Mountain stories question

Just quick question. Are the various movie and tv adaptations based on any books? Or completely born of Tsui Hark's imagination?

All English sources point to 1983 film.

They are based on the author HuanZhuLouZhu's 蜀山劍俠傳 (ShuShanJianXiaZhuan - Legend of the Zu Mountain Sword Warriors) series, written over a number of years starting from 1930 and abandoned by 1949. This series was later picked up by the Hong Kong author Ni Kuang, edited and continued as the 紫青雙劍錄 (ZiQingShuangJianLu - Record of the purple and green twin swords) series.
