Default A Step into the Past (2017)

I heard that there is a new remake currently filming. This is one of my most favorite TVB classics. Any information and update on this is greatly appreciated!

The second trailer is out now:

The effects seem horribly outdated, but i think that may be on purpose to contribute to the comedic value.
I must say the trailer was hilarious, I hope the show is just like that.

Thanks and yes, the effects are unattractive and discouraging. I don't mind having more comic touches to the series especially during the early part of the story when he just gets transported back to the Wu nation. I also like to see a development process in the character of Xiang Shaolong from a seductive playboyish to a heroic one.

Aside from a starting point of a very futuristic aproach that doesn't gives any kind of romantic feeling like the previous version and very much newly made famous actors, this looks okay.

Hu Ge version of the myth was kind of a step into the past as well. I perhaps will probably be comparing them somehow.

    Scenes from episode 5

I just watched a few episodes, Lian Jian is very likeable in this. He's emotional unlike the 2001 version how he was extremely cold to be with.

This is actually becoming more entertaining.

I just watched the first two episodes. It was kind of hard to swallow but I have not given up yet. I would say this is a completely new adaptation with new interpretation and for a different type of audience and certainly not a remake of the 2001 version. Despite many negative reviews, I do think HXL in the first few episodes have some resemblances of the actual character in the novel, essentially a playboy. I hope to his character will evolve through the series and become more mature, intelligent and heroic. None of the female characters really stands out yet, but again, I hope they will also evolve through time.

I'm on episode 14. This is becoming interesting.
I have not read the novel so perhaps there are different versions with different characters?

Since Ying Zheng is apart of this. Will Ying Zheng become Qin Shi Huang?
Or will Zhao Pan become Ying Zheng and then become Qin Shi Huang?

If you guys are interested to the new Xiao Ao Jiang Hu about the love and romance between Dong Feng Bu Bai and Lin Hu Chong.

Perhaps you can kind of get a nice preview of it from this show through Long Yang Jun and Xiang Xao Long. That Long Yang Jun in this show sure look kinda like how I would imagine Dong Feng Bu Bai to be. Perhaps there will be some nice sword fighting scenes between them or with Lian Jin?

I've gone through 20 episodes and decided to give up on this one. I had really high hope that SITP 2018 would be an exciting series with the young casts and back-to-original approach similar to Legend of Condor Hero 2017. However, it has been a big disappointment. Characters get moved around with complete change in personality. Main plots are butchered and reassembled in strange ways. Beside couple strong supporting cast, the main character does not capture the attention and interest of viewers. I may go back to this another time but for now I am moving on to NIF2.

I am unsure of how to feel with the ending between Ying Zheng and Zhao Pan.

Are you guys interested in the new movie version?
