Li Siang gazed unbelievingly to her sword that has hurled to the ground. She couldn’t believe that this guy could defeat her!

Slowly, Kiau Leng Thian picked up the sword and ushered it to her. “As I have defeated you, please remember your promise to cure my friend here,” he bowed.

Grudgingly, Li Siang took out a small bottle from her pocket. “Here, take it. Puncture the yellowish area and put this salve on it. His wound is not severe, so that will quickly heal him.”

Kiau Leng Thian hurriedly walked approaching A Gu who was wailing loudly behind a bush. Following Li Siang’s explanation, Kiau Leng Thian punctured A Gu’s yellow imprinted shoulder and put the salve on. Shortly, the yellowish blood has turned red.

As Kiau Leng Thian straightened his standing, suddenly his eyes saw a glimpse of flash. He quickly turned, and was shocked to discover Li Siang has cut her wrist with her own sword!

“Miss Li! Why did you do that?” Kiau Leng Thian cried panicky. Frantically, he searched for his own medicament to stop Li Siang’s bleeding. He then pulled out a clean cloth and started to bandage Li Siang’s wound with it.

“Leave me alone!” Li Siang snatched her hand away from Kiau Leng Thian’s palm. “I… I’m ashamed to my si-fu… I’d rather die,” she sobbed.

“Ah…” Kiau Leng Thian went speechless. How strange this li-hiap was!

“It’s a duel… I think it is normal to be defeated in a duel. Please don’t take it too seriously,” he spoke softly.

Li Siang stomped her feet, “But… but… now I can’t kill that man. And I… He… has seen…” She sobbed again. “I’d better die!”

Kiau Leng Thian closed his eyes, thinking hard. When he opened his eyes again, he looked determined, “Miss Li, I have admire you ever since we first met. Today, by situation, I was forced to duel you in order to save my friend’s life. While I can understand why you are so eager to kill A Gu here, I really could not let you disgrace your own name by killing a retarded person like he is! Instead of kill him, let me take his responsibility. Miss Li, kill me instead!”

Li Siang gasped, “This…. Why do you propose such a thing?”

Kiau Leng Thian continued his talking as if he didn’t hear Li Siang’s exclamation, “Before you kill me, promise me that you wouldn’t do something that will harm A Gu’s life. He is indeed a retarded, so you should not be afraid that he would reveal what happened this day to other person. Also… please promise me that you will take good care of yourself, that you would not never think to end your life again regarding this matter…”

Li Siang stunned. Only tears that rolled in her cheeks showed that she heard everything Kiau Leng Thian said.

From his robe, Kiau Leng Thian took out a roll of picture. After gazing at it tenderly, he gave it to Li Siang. “Miss Li, please forgive my impudence. I made this painting about a year ago, after the incident with Lam Cen. I hope you are willing to keep it.”

Slowly, Li Siang rolled the picture. It was a picture of herself. Her expression was so alive, that it was easy to say the painter had spent lots of thought making the painting.

“Why? Why are you willing to die under my sword?” Li Siang cried.

Kiau Leng Thian whispered softly, “Because I’d rather die than to see you die…”

For some time, both of them silenced. Even nature seemed to freeze. The air between them seemed thicken. Only A Gu’s soft wailing that was heard.

“Here!” From inside her pocket, Li Siang took out a small jade bottle and gave it to Kiau Leng Thian.

“What’s this?” Seeing how exquisite the bottle was, it was easy to guess that the bottle and its contents were very valuable.

“This bottle contains the most lethal poison in the entire wu-lin and a very valuable item to my clan, the Seven Colors of Rainbow. Keep it!”

“But… why?” Kiau Leng Thian stammered.

“Didn’t you say that you are willing to bear the responsibility? I have promised my si-fu, if something indecent happens to me, either I will kill the man or take him as my husband…” Li Siang answered flatly. “We need to talk to my si-fu first. Only after that then we can organize our wedding. In the mean time, please keep the bottle as a token of our engagement. Unless…” blushing, she suddenly turned her head, “you don’t want to marry me…”

Kiau Leng Thian shook his head vigorously, “Miss Li, I never dare dreaming to get this honor! Sure, if you don’t look down on me, I’d be more than happy to be your husband!”

“Good, as I still need to finish a task, let’s meet in the south side of Shih Chu valley six months from now. Look for a tall bamboo tree on the bank of a river and knot a piece of red cloth on its highest branch. Upon seeing that, I’ll meet you and bring you to my si-fu,” Li Siang explained expressionlessly.

Kiau Leng Thian frowned. His fiancée’s flat expression bothered him. Yet he didn’t say a word. Deep inside his mind, he promised that he would try his best to appeal this girl that had captured his heart since a year ago.

Alas, he never had a chance to do so. Six months later at Shih Chu Valley, Li Siang never showed up. Her maid told Kiau Leng Thian that Li Siang had been killed by her own si-heng, Ling Man Shin…

Inside the cave, Sheng Nan pranced worriedly.

“Darn, whoever that silly-looking man is, his martial skill is very great! And Brother Je Jian is still weak… What should I do?” she pondered hard.

“Sheng Nan, what is happening?” From his seating place, Wu Han asked.

“Oh… Brother Han, have you finished?” Sheng Nan quickly turned. Seeing Wu Han nodded, Sheng Nan quickly continued, “There are some bad guys out there!”

Li Hoa peeped outside. “It is Wong Chin!” Her pretty face paled.

“What? And the person next to him is Hung Pei Pei!” Wu Han frowned. Seeing Wu Han was ready to step out, Sheng Nan hurriedly waved her hands, “Brother Han, do not go out! Your lwee-kang has not been restored yet. And even that, it will still be difficult to you and Brother Je Jian to defeat them and protect us as well…”

“Brother Han, she’s right. After all, they are looking for me. I’ll surrender now. After that, they won’t trouble all of you again!” Li Hoa whispered softly.

“No!” Wu Han shook his head sternly. “Don’t you ever think to do a stupid thing like that! I’ll fight them instead!”

“Wait a minute! Let’s not talk about sacrificing anyone!” Sheng Nan exclaimed. Her eyes suddenly twinkled, “I have an idea…”

“Madame, she’s not the girl!” After checking on Goat Lan’s face, Wong Chin muttered grumpily. “But these are her friend, so she can’t be far.”

“Hmmm…. Maybe she’s inside that cave,” Hung Pei Pei answered with her shrilly voice.

Je Jian stepped up, “If you dare come near this cave, I swear I’ll cut you into pieces!” he growled threateningly.

“Sie Je Jian! You have been hurt by my poison. I’ll kill you today and send your corpse to your arrogant si-heng,” Wong Chin growled back. He walked approaching Je Jian, his sword’s blade glistened under the Red Spider Sect followers torches.

    Suddenly…

“Brother Je Jian!” A figure hurled from inside the cave.

“Sheng Nan! Go back inside the cave!” Je Jian hissed at her.

“No! This is important!” Sheng Nan shook her head hotly. “Li Hoa… she’s been dead!”

“Whaaaat??” Jin Lam stepped up hurriedly. “My miss is dead?”

“Is Li Hoa the girl that has the map?” silently Hung Pei Pei asked Wong Chin. Seeing Wong Chin nodded his head, Hung Pei Pei became agitated.

“Little girl, are you trying to fool me?” she growled menacingly.

“What she said is true,” Wu Han answered sadly. He stepped out from the cave, his hands were carrying Li Hoa’s lifeless body.

Seeing Li Hoa’s beautiful face has turned white and her body turned cold, Goat Lan could not contain her emotion any longer.

“You… you killed her!” Stomping her feet, she drew her sword and pointed it at Sheng Nan.

“What? Am I the one that poisoned her?” Sheng Nan shouted back. “It’s obvious that she was poisoned by Red Spider’s poison!”

Hung Pei Pei signaled Wong Chin with her hand, “What poison that you used, by the way? You should have been realized her value to us, so why did you use such a strong poison?” she glared.

“Madame, I didn’t give her a strong poison! Could that be they play a trick upon us?”

Hung Pei Pei frowned. She walked towards Li Hoa’s lifeless body that was in Wu Han’s embrace.

“Stop! Where are you going?” Sheng Nan, blocking the way, barked. Alas, with a push, Hung Pei Pei shoved her away. Seeing his si-mei being pushed, Je Jian drew his dragon rod. But twinkle in Sheng Nan’s eyes made him hesitate.

“Give me the girl!” Hung Pei Pei squinted her eyes at Wu Han menacingly.

“She’s been dead. Why don’t you let us burry her in peace?” Wu Han answered back.

Roared in anger, Hung Pei Pei took another step towards Wu Han.

    But…

“If I were you, I wouldn’t dare to take another step,” Sheng Nan suddenly chuckled. “As the leader of Red Spider Sect, you surely recognize your own Three Step Scorpion Poison?”

Hung Pei Pei froze. The Three Step Scorpion Poison is one of Red Spider Sect’s most venomous poisons, as it could kill its victim in just three footsteps. Silently she exhaled, and was shocked to discover a burning feeling in her heart. She was indeed poisoned with Three Step Scorpion Poison! But who poisoned her, and how did the person manage to poison her, since Three Step Scorpion Poison was given through food or beverages.

“Madame…” From his place, Wong Chin called out.

“Ah ha ha… Big man, don’t you dare to move! You are also poisoned with Three Step Scorpion Poison!” Sheng Nan laughed out loud. “You’d better get one of your men to boil the antidote before it’s too late! That will be such a tragic loss for your sect if both of you dead today.”

She turned to Wu Han and Je Jian, “Brother Han, Brother Je Jian, let’s go now. I think, although they’ll let us slip this time, they will skin us if we meet them again!” Then, without taking a second glance at Hung Pei Pei, Sheng Nan walked by.

“Darn that little girl! I swear I’ll skin her next time, to repay this humiliation!” Hung Pei Pei growled as she watched the small group departed.

“Sheng Nan, you have laughed uncontrollably like that ever since we left the Red Spider Sect people, and it’s been quite a long time ago! Don’t you get tired?” Je Jian asked exhaustedly.

“Oh, Brother Je Jian, that was so funny! I never thought that they could be tricked that easily. I assume, at this time they are now drinking the Three Step Scorpion antidote. And the funny part is, that the Three Step Scorpion antidote will clash with the Sunflower Poison that I actually gave to them. Hahahaha… they’ll have a very bad case of diarrhea today!”

“Sheng Nan, you are really full of trick! Now, now, what if you use your tricky mind to help Li Hoa regain her consciousness?” Wu Han, who still embraced Li Hoa, asked.

“Oops, I almost forgot! She’ll regain her consciousness in a few minutes, as the medicine can only make her appear ‘dead’ for an hour,” Sheng Nan replied.

“Hah… you really surprised me when you ran out of the cave and telling everyone that Li Hoa jie-jie has been dead!” Goat Lan scoffed.

“Yeah, and you almost killed me,” Sheng Nan rolled her eyes. “Anyway, she’s not dead yet. More, she has been recovered from her poison.”

“Miss, how I can ever thank you? If it’s true that my miss has been killed by that b*stard’s poison, then how should I explain it to my master?” Jin Lam bowed.

“Oh, Brother, there’s no need to thank me. It’s Brother Han that did much to your miss, after all,” Sheng Nan grinned.

Just as they talked and walked, Li Hoa slowly stirred. Upon discovering that she was in Wu Han’s embrace, she let out a cry, “Oh!”

“Oh, you wake up. Sorry to improperly carry you like that, but since we should ran away from the Red Spider Sect…” Wu Han blushed as he realized that he still carried Li Hoa’s body. Gently he put her down.

“So? Did her trick work?” Li Hoa asked softly.

“Don’t you realize that we are not surrounded by that funny looking guys anymore?” Sheng Nan rolled her eyes. “Of course it worked!”

“Do you have to be that rude?” Goat Lan stomped her feet. “Li Hoa jie jie is just woke up!”

“Oh yeah…” Sheng Nan rolled her eyes again.

Seeing this, Je Jian sighed exasperatedly, “Why do girls always fight each other? Luckily, soon we’ll have to depart as I’ll bring Sheng Nan and Brother Jin home to meet my si-fu.”

Silently, Wu Han glanced at Sheng Nan. Her face paled for a second. But on the next second, she smiled gaily, “Now, now, it’s already dawn now. Can’t we at least have a nice breakfast for a while?”

Slowly, Li Siang opened her eyes. Her head pounded. The last thing she remembered was her own si-heng shoved her down a cliff near Shih Chu Valley. She blinked, trying to banish that sad memories. Her own si-heng…

“You wake up already?” A man suddenly appeared.

“Uh… where am I?” Li Siang muttered painfully.

“We’re in a neglected hut at the bottom of the Heartbroken cliff. You must be trying to suicide from that cliff. Hmmm… such a stupid girl,” the man smirked.

Li Siang raised her brows in disbelief, “I didn’t… I wouldn’t… Aiya!!” Only her pounding temple that stopped her from jumped up and strangled the man.

“Here, drink this,” the man shoved a cup, its contain was still hot.

“Ouch, it’s still hot! Don’t you know that this kind of medicine should not be taken hot? It will lessen its effectivity,” Li Siang glared.
The man smirked, “Such a clever girl, eh? Now, now, since you can take care of yourself, there’s no need for me to take care of you, eh?”

“Now, now, feel free to take care of yourself. I’ll go now.” Without hesitation, the man walked approaching the door of the small hut.

Gritting her teeth in anger, Li Siang pushed herself to be seated. Alas, as she was doing that, her head started to spin and she fell down to the floor. The cup that contained the medicine also fell and its content was spilled all over the floor.

“Such an ungrateful girl,” the man muttered.

“You… how can you be so cruel?” Unable to contain her emotion any longer, Li Siang cried out loud.

“Me? Cruel? Do tell me, if I’m cruel, would I bring you here, safe from the wolves?” the man cried back.

Li Siang went speechless. Nobody has ever treated her that bad before!! Feeling so helpless and lonely, her tears started rolling down her cheek.

    “It’s not you… it’s… it’s me… I wish I were dead…” Li Siang sobbed.

“Come, come, it won’t be that bad… There will always be another man,” the man, approaching Li Siang, soothed tenderly.

“No! I don’t want any man. I don’t need any man! Men are so cruel. And even the good-hearted one is only bring trouble. My own si-hing tried to kill me. And I must marry a man I don’t love. I wish I were dead,” Li Siang’s cry became more harder.

Slowly, the man put his hand on Li Siang’s shoulder, “Now, now, don’t cry… Let’s pretend that you’re dead now. Choose a new identity and leave your old cares away.”

Li Siang lifted her teary gaze towards the man, “Is that possible?” she sobbed.

“Sure. Let’s forget your old identity. You have no si-hing that want to kill you now, and nobody forces you to marry anyone. How about that?” the man answered patiently.

Slowly, Li Siang nodded. Since that day, she was not Li Siang, student of Goddess of Poison. She’ll be a plain villager instead.
