Goofy: yeah, only Andy Lau that would look good in whatever clothes I wanna dress him in, scar and all
And it's DEFINITELY Alec Su. Chi Lam (Julian??) doesn't have the aura of Wu Han (calmness, gentleness, content nature), although I must admit he's very cute... (my sis had a crush on someone who looks like him )

Andrea: So.... should we propose TVB to make Andrea Bocelli sings a wuxia sountrack?

Floo, I agree with you I think the wuxia series will be more and more popular if famous singer like Andrea Bocelli sing the theme song. Just like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon which soundtrack was seriously done by Tan Dun and Yoyo Ma, sung by Coco Lee!

I finally found time to read your fanfic. Very interesting. Telling the story of two different time periods at once is new. Can't wait to see how it work out.

In Kay Pang headquarter, Ma It Hong went straight to the back bedroom. “Pang-cu,” he called out, “Are you looking for me?”

“It Hong, is that you?” a voice answered back from the tiny bed in the room, where an elderly man laid. Although his skinny body was covered by a simple blanket, it could still be seen that the elderly had no left foot.

“Pang-cu, are you all right?” Ma It Hong quickly put the sack he was carrying and approached the bed.

“I heard that you met Red Spider Sect,” Ciong pang-cu asked, frowning his wrinkled forehead.

Ma It Hong nodded, “They come here in full force. Even their leader Hung Pei Pei and the Thousand Sabre Wong Chin also came here. Alas, I still have no information on what they are doing here.”

“Ahhh… that evil sect. What would they want to do here in northern area? It seems that wu-lin will undergo another tides of chaos. Too bad, this old man couldn’t fight as well as he used to be. Now, the responsibility to defend the northern area is in your shoulder…” Ciong pang-cu sighed.

“Pang-cu, as the great pang-cu of Kay Pang, you should not be bothered fighting that devil by yourself. With one command from you, I will fight the Red Spider Sect until my last blood drop!” Ma It Hong replied vehemently.

Ciong pang-cu only smiled bitterly, “It Hong, It Hong, you must face the reality. Kay Pang-cu is now a useless, one legged man. It is high time that Kay Pang have another pang-cu…”

At that time, Kay Pang had lost its influence as one of the biggest and strongest sects in wu-lin world. Yet its presence was still strong, especially in the northern area. When he was first elected as Kay Pang-cu, Ciong pang-cu was very ambitioned to restore Kay Pang back to its golden era. Under his leadership, slowly but sure Kay Pang began building back its organization and recruited many new members. Kay Pang’s influence became much stronger. Until one day, an accident happened.

A few years ago, Ciong pang-cu tried to save a baby from a burning hut. He managed to save the baby, but as the hut crumbled, its debris fell down onto his left foot, making the bone broke severely and some of the major veins were cut. The damage was so great that Ciong pang-cu’s left foot need to be amputated.

Alas, not only Ciong pang-cu lost his foot, but also his confidence. He felt that he was a useless man and was not a worthy leader for Kay Pang. He then spent his days in his small bedroom, contemplating about his unsuccessful plan to build Kay Pang. As the pang-cu was wallowing in self pity and Pheng tiangloo rarely came back to the headquarter, all the responsibility to handle Kay Pang management fell into Ma tiangloo’s shoulder.

“It Hong, our annual meeting will be held three days from now. How’s the preparation?” Ciong pang-cu asked seriously.

“Pang-cu, our brothers from other areas have come and now they are staying in the forests outside Ching An. Brother Wen leads the logistic preparation, and up to now there are no problem that occurred. Brother Biauw has come back from inviting our guests, and the guests have confirmed their attendance. Meanwhile, Brother Lim and some other two-sack members are making sure that there won’t be any disturbance at the annual meeting. I am thinking to ask some three-sack members to help them, to make sure that Red Spider Sect wouldn’t interrupt our meeting,” Ma It Hong reported.

Ciong pangcu smiled weakly, “It Hong, you are such a good man and a good leader. I hope our pang’s problem do not overburden you. I notice that you hardly involved in jiang-hu business, in contrast with Pheng tiangloo.”

“Pang-cu, Pheng tiangloo is a very carefree man. He loves to go wandering around and helping people in trouble. As for me, I’ll be happy to be at your side and helping you with Kay Pang management.” It Hong bowed.

Ciong pangcu sighed, “It Hong, I know your good intention. But still, as the future pang-cu, you need to be known outside out sect!”

“This… ” Taken aback by Ciong pangcu’s words, Ma It Hong stuttered, “This is not possible! Pangcu, I am still young and foolish. I never thought to be a pang-cu! Besides, you are still healthy. I couldn’t…”

“Silence!” Ciong pang-cu barked. “How dare you questioning my judgement! Listen, I have set my heart. As I said, I’m now an old, crippled man. Kay Pang needs a healthy and smart leader to restore our greatness! Do you dare to run away from this responsibility?”

Ma It Hong bowed down, ”I do not dare. But still…”

Ciong pang-cu waved his arm, “Ah… then I will announce this news on our meeting. It Hong, you are such a good boy. I am very happy that you don’t mind bearing this heavy responsibility.”

Suddenly his tone changed, “It Hong, as the future leader of Kay Pang, I will teach you our two most powerful styles, Hang Liong Sip-pat Ciang (Eighteen Dragon Palm) and Tah-kauw Pang Hoat (Dog Beating Stick Style). Now, kneel down!” he commanded solemnly.

Under his blanket, Ciong pang-cu took a bamboo stick, its green shaft gleamed beautifully. Solemnly Ciong pang-cu touched Ma It Hong’s right shoulder with the stick. “Ah… it’s too bad that I have lost my foot. I couldn’t show you the movement of these powerful styles. Now, I will teach you the kouw-koat (theory) first. Memorize them well. Later I will teach you how to practice them.”

Slowly, Ciong pang-cu began reciting the kouw-koat of Hang Liong Sip-pat Ciang. He also explained the eighteen styles in detail. It Hong tried his best to memorize all the theory and explanation. There were so many things that he would like to ask later!

Few hours later, Ciong pang-cu finished with Hang Liong Sip-pat Ciang, and now began reciting the kouw-koat of Tah-kauw Pang Hoat. He had just finished reciting it when someone knocked the door, “Pang-cu, Tiangloo, there are two guests that came here, looking for Pheng Tiangloo.”

It Hong and Ciong pang-cu exchanged glances. “I’ll go take a look,” It Hong answered.

Inside the sack, Sheng Nan could hear It Hong’s steps when he went out of the room and the sound of door closed. Then silence. Nothing was heard, until a few hours later, she was shocked upon hearing a loud thump near her. The sound was so loud, that some Kay Pang members felt it was necessary for them to check it. Sheng Nan could hear their steps as they ran into the room, and how they broke the door. Then she heard someone was screaming… and screaming…

Final installment before I retreated to Heng Hai mountain...

    ==
Two horses were prancing hurriedly past the northern mountains when all of a sudden, one of the riders pulled his reins, bringing his horse to a complete halt.

“A Sheng, what happened?” The other rider, a pretty girl in purple coat, swiftly halted her horse.

“I hear child crying,” Yang Li Sheng replied.

Li Siang focused her ears, trying to hear something. “I only hear wind blow ferociously,” she shrugged.

Yang Li Sheng shook his head, “Come on, over here,” he led his horse towards a small cave in the back of the mountain.

Li Siang, following him suit, suddenly exclaimed, “Yes, I hear child crying. No, not a child. Two children!”

Meanwhile, Yang Li Sheng had busily digging the snow that covered the cave’s entrance.

“I see a hand!” Li Siang exclaimed. She hurriedly pulled the little hand out of the snow. It was a hand of a little boy. His handsome, chubby face was red from the cold temperature, and his teeth were grinding. It seemed that his expensive coat couldn’t warmed his small body.

“Such a poor boy,” Li Siang took off her coat and covered it towards the boy.

“Hang on, here comes another one,” Yang Li Sheng pulled another boy from the snow. This one, about the same age, was even trembling more heavily, as his coat was a cheap one. Yet Li Siang noticed that the first boy’s shawl was hanging in the second boy’s throat when she, too, covered the second boy with her coat.

“Here, drink this,” Yang Li Sheng took out a small bottle from his pocket. Li Siang wrinkled her nose upon smelling the strong liquor.

“Is it OK to give these children alcohol?” she asked. “Their stomach must be empty!”

“A Siang, these boys are almost freezing!” Yang Li Sheng threw his arm in exasperation.

“Oh, OK. But pour this into your wine first,” Li Siang took out a small pouch from her pocket. “It will minimize the effect of the alcohol and warm their body.”

Some minutes later, Li Siang’s medicament and Yang Li Sheng’s wine had taken effect. Both boys had stopped trembling.

Suddenly the boy in cheap clothes punched the other boy hard, “I want daddy! I want daddy!” he cried hard.

Without ducking, the boy in expensive clothes hugged him, “Don’t cry… Don’t cry… I am also sad…”

Yang Li Sheng and Li Siang exchanged glance in suspicion. What had happened to these two boys?

“Boys… what happened to both of you? Do tell me, where are your parents?” Li Siang asked tenderly. Upon hearing Li Siang’s sweet voice, both boys cried. Between their sobs, they began to tell their stories.

The first boy’s father, Merchant Fu, was a great merchant from South. Upon his journey to the north this time, he brought his only child, as he was afraid that the boy would be lonely, especially since his mother had just passed away.

On the other hand, as his mother had died giving him birth, the second boy was raised only by his father, who was the head of a scoundrel’s gang. Never miss an opportunity to raid merchant’s caravan that went past his area in northern mountain, Old Sie and his men robbed Merchant Fu’s caravans. As Merchant Fu and his bodyguards fought back, a great snowstorm occurred and killed men from both sides, leaving the little boy, Fu Hong Ming, alone.

Old Sie’s little boy, Sie Je Jian, alone in his dingy hut, decided to walked out to search for his father and his men, only to watch his father - his only family- buried with the snow. Screaming endlessly, both boys were digging the snow with their little hands. But what can two little boys do towards the anger of nature? After much digging, not only the boys could not save their loved ones, they were also trembling from cold.

At that time, Sie Je Jian who knew the mountain well as if knowing his own palm, dragged Fu Hong Ming to the nearest cave. Seeing that his new friend’s coat was not as thick as his own, Fu Hong Ming then gave Je Jian his shawl. Trapping in the cold cave with no food and fire, both boys were almost freezing to death before their cry was heard by Yang Li Sheng.

Li Siang could not contain her emotion upon hearing the boys’ story. “Poor children. What can we do now?” she sobbed.

Yang Li Sheng regarded the boys carefully, “They have a terrific bone. This one seemed lighter and more flexible, but the other has stronger bone…” He suddenly turned, facing the boys, “From now on, do you want to live with me on top of this mountain and be my students?”

Both boys exchanged glance. Fu Hong Ming then kneeled down, “Si-fu,” he bowed three times. Sie Je Jian hurriedly followed suit, “Si-fu, Si-fu, Si-fu,” he called out three times.

Li Siang clapped her hands, “Congratulation, A Sheng. Now you have two terrific students! I am so happy about it!”

Almost without thinking, Sie Je Jian bowed at Li Siang, “Su-bo!” he called out.

Both Li Siang and Yang Li Sheng’s face turned red.

“Si-de, don’t be like that. They are not married yet. Look at her hair,” Hong Ming explained.

Je Jian frowned, “Why should you be my si-heng and I’m your si-de? Why not the other way around? Su-bo, help me…”

“But I am older than you are! Besides, I called si-fu first!” Hong Ming replied back.

“Listen you two! You are si-heng and si-de from now on. You should be helping each other, not fighting over petty problems!” Yang Li Sheng barked. “Besides…” he lowered his voice, “I know that your parents were fighting before they died, but please understand that once you became si-heng and si-de, you should put the old grudge back…”

“A Sheng, isn’t that a bit hard to ask from children this young?” Li Siang hissed.

“No! He is my friend. While it’s true that my daddy fought his, it was the storm that killed my daddy,” Je Jian replied hotly.

“Si-de is right. If it’s not for him that dragged me to the cave, I would have died now,” Hong Ming added.

Yang Li Sheng smiled. He was already proud of his new students. They seemed mature beyond their age.

“Now, now, Hong Ming did called me si-fu first, and he seemed older than you are. Therefore, I think it would only be fair if he became your si-heng,” Yang Li Sheng decided. Hong Ming grinned.

“Si-fu, si-heng,” Je Jian called out rather grumpily.

Later that night, Yang Li Sheng approached Li Siang that sat all alone near the fire. The boys were sleeping not far from there.

“Such a beautiful and silent night…” Li Siang murmured. “Especially after day that must have been very hard for those two boys. A Sheng, I really should congratulate you. Not only you get two smart and talented students, you also finished the budding grudge between them.”

Sitting beside her, Yang Li Sheng frowned, “What’s grudge? What’s hatred? Don’t you notice that the land is very barren here? If they don’t have enough capital, then they can’t buy a sheep or horse to be herd. If Je Jian’s father didn’t raid people, how should he feed his boy? On the other hand, I know that many wealthy merchant like that to squeeze high margin even from the poorest customer.” He then sighed, “Ahhh…. I didn’t say that I agree with what the scoundrels did and disagree with the merchants. And I certainly didn’t pro towards criminals and against any hard-working richman. I only think it’s not wise to point a finger towards someone and judge them, without knowing their reason of doing something.”

Li Siang silenced. A Sheng’s perspective, although very new to her, rang a bell. “Do I hastily judge someone, without first trying to hear their side of story? Didn’t I judge the retarded man as a pervert beforehand and planned to kill him, without even knowing that he was a retarded?”

Deep in her thought, Li Siang almost jumped out when Yang Li Sheng suddenly spoke.

“A Siang,” A Sheng softly whispered, “I know that you’ve been hurt. I just want to let you know, please think carefully about what Hong Ming said about you being their su-bo…”

Li Siang gasped. Did A Sheng actually have a feeling for her?

Misinterpreting Li Siang’s expression, Yang Li Sheng quickly added, “I know you are still heartbroken. But I will wait…”

“You idiot! Who says I’m heartbroken! You told me not to hastily judge a person, and yet you did exactly that to me! I told you, my si-heng pushed me down the cliff! I never want to kill myself. Don’t you know that the only person that I ever loved is…. You?” Li Siang’s voice faded out.

Yang Li Sheng seemed dumbstrucked, “But… that day when you cried in the hut…”

“That’s because I thought you left me!”

    “Oh… I thought that…” he stuttered.

Li Siang smiled warmly. “It’s not easy not to judge easily, I guess..” she chuckled. Yang Li Sheng grinned. Tenderly, he held Li Siang’s hand. Li Siang felt her cheeks getting hot. She must be blushing now…

But then suddenly she remembered her engagement with Kiau Leng Thian.

“A Sheng,” Li Siang quickly snatched her hand away from Yang Li Sheng’s palm, “Unfortunately, we can’t be together …. ”

“Why not?” Yang Li Sheng frowned. ”Do you love another man?”

Li Siang quickly shook her head, “No! I told you, you are the only man that I love! But I have a problem in my past that hinders me to be together with you…”

“I don’t care about your past!” Yang Li Sheng cut out. “A Siang, you told me, you’d be a girl without a past. Is it really difficult to you to leave your past to be together with me?”

“No, it’s not that… But it might gives you trouble…” Li Siang’s voice faded out.

Seeing Li Siang silenced, Yang Li Sheng added softly, “ A Siang, we’ll leave the world behind us. I don’t care about whatever you did in the past. As long as you love me now, it’s more than enough for me. I am not afraid of our future. So let’s leave our past and face our future together…”

Yang Li Sheng’s vehement words made Li Siang grinned, “A Sheng, you surely has a weird thinking. And know what? That makes me love you even more…” she thought.

And why should petty affairs like past had to do with love?

Ma It Hong walked swiftly to the meeting room that situated at the front section of Kay Pang headquarter to meet the guest. Yet his mind was busily occupied with the lessons that he just got from Ciong Pang-cu. There were so many things that still need further explanation! Ma It Hong really hoped that these guests would leave as soon as he informed them that Pheng tiangloo had not arrived at Kay Pang headquarter yet.

In the meeting room, two guests were waiting for him. The first one was a young man in white robe. Despite his calm appearance, Ma It Hong could feel strength blazed from the young man’s body. The second guest, although dressed like a man, had a very handsome face and porcelain-like skin. At a glance Ma It Hong could decipher that this guest was actually a very beautiful lady.

Upon seeing Ma It Hong, the first guest stood up and bowed, “Ma tiangloo, Wu Han feel honored to see you today.”

Ma It Hong bowed back and said, “Wu Han siauw-hiap, although I do not involve with jiang-hu affair, I have heard your name. It’s an honor for our pang to be visited by a kind-hearted siauw-hiap like you! What can I do to help you?”

Wu Han sighed, “I am so sorry to come here uninvited. But I am looking for a friend of mine, who coincidentally is looking for the Wind Beggar.”

“I am so sorry, but I couldn’t help you. Not only your friend doesn’t come to our headquarter, Pheng tiangloo is also not here,” Ma It Hong shook his head.

Wu Han frowned. If Pheng tiangloo was not here, where should he look for that old man? And if he couldn’t find Pheng tiangloo, how could he find Sheng Nan?

“Ma tiangloo,” the second guess spoke up, “Do you have any idea where we could find the Wind Beggar?”

Hearing the sweet voice, Ma It Hong assumed that whoever this lady was, she must be a very beautiful woman.

    “I am sorry, Master…”

“Oh, my name is Feng!” Ashamed that she didn’t introduce herself earlier, Li Hoa quickly quipped.

“I am sorry, Master Feng. I have no idea where Pheng tiangloo is. But I could tell you that three days later, we will conduct our Annual Meeting. I am very sure he’ll be there.”

Wu Han silenced. Three days were not long. If only he was invited to attend the meeting…

As if sensing Wu Han’s mind, Ma It Hong quickly added, “Wu siauw-hiap, I have heard about your heroic deeds. In fact, you have helped some of our Kay Pang brothers. If you don’t mind, you could stay here for a couple of days to wait for Pheng tiangloo.”

“Why, thank you very much for your hospitality.” Wu Han smiled brightly.

Ma It Hong just opened his mouth to reply when suddenly a screaming sound was heard from inside of the building. The sound came from the wing where Ciong Pang-cu bedroom was located! As quickly as his feet could carry him, Ma It Hong ran towards Ciong Pang-cu’s bedroom.

Wu Han and Li Hoa exchanged glance. Then they followed Ma It Hong, ran towards the back of Kay Pang headquarter.

Outside Ciong Pang-cu’s bedroom, there were already many Kay Pang members gathered. Upon seeing the situation in the bedroom from the door that had been forced open, Li Hoa stifled a cry.

Inside the bedroom, near the cupboard, a body laid in the middle of blood puddle. As its door was ajar, Li Hoa could see that inside of the cupboard was smeared with blood. It seemed that the one-foot body was previously hidden in the cupboard, but then the weight of the body shoved the door and made it open.

Ma It Hong’s face went pale. “Ciong Pang-cu…” he whispered shakily as he squatted next to the body.

Brother Wen quickly followed him. He checked Ciong Pang-cu’s body carefully. His face darkened, “Pang-cu was killed with Hang Liong Yu Hui (Dragon’s Regret) palm from Hang Liong Sip Pat Ciang…”

All Kay Pang members exchanged glance in surprise. Hang Liong Sip Pat Ciang and Tah Kauw Pang Hoat were two special styles that only taught to Kay Pang-cu! Whoever killed Ciong Pang-cu must be someone close to Kay Pang.

Suddenly Brother Wan stomped his feet, “Ma It Hong, you… you are animal! Why should you kill Pang-cu?”
