    Default To write DOMD, did Jin Yong need to research how Qing law and government worked?

    Parts of DUKE OF MT. DEER got somewhat deep into the inner workings of Qing Dynasty law and government, especially the intrigue surrounding Obai's attempted coup early in the story. Was Jin Yong an expert in Qing imperial law, or did he have to research this topic extensively before writing about it?

    Don't know if he rated as an epert or not, but he certainly had access to primary sources. At the end of DOMD, a number of real correspondences of Kang Xi's are quoted to give us the measure of the man.
