IDK.... this XLN looks very scary... her body seems to be too big for her face... the neck and body... sigh no matter how I look at it, it looks scary... sorry ppl im saying based on the appearance but of course I am still going to watch and give her another chance... hmmm maybe her neck is too long... or is it that they're using a double and just photoshop her face on it? iono no more...

She's not scary to me but she's not "XLN" in my opinion. She's not ugly, but not captivating either. I know what you mean though, her head doesn't seem proportional to her body. Maybe they should have given her a crew neck or close-neck instead of a long v-neck like dress so as not to accentuate her long neck and larger than head body. Heh.

Forgot to mention, the Yang Guo actor looks great! Very fitting.

I personally don't mind another ROCH remake if they can just get the following two scenes right (which I haven't seen either done satisfactorily by any adaption so far):
    - The big XLN takes on like 20 dudes all at once battle - The 2014 version made it look like it was going to happen from their end of episode trailer of about 10 swords flying around XLN all at once but alas that's all they had and didn't show any more. The novel had her using the net technique to fly a whole room full of swords all at once. The 2006 one was pretty intense but ended abruptly with XLN jumping out of a window injured without even being hit somehow (there was clearly a deleted scene in there somewhere which they didn't even bother to hide). All the previous adaptions did not have the CG technology to do that scene justice.
    - The 16 year reunion scene - I can understand the above not being done properly because frankly it actually needs some good CG + practical effects + creativity to pull off, but this one should be slam dunk easy if they just followed the novel. Literally every adaption I've watched so far has YG walking into XLN's house and discovering that she's still alive and then going outside and meeting her, which is different to what the novel does. The novel's version of the reunion is incredibly beautiful in the way that it makes you question whether the whole thing was even real until it flat out says that it was. It gives you a kind of feeling that YG is losing hope pretty much the whole way only to be led further on because he sees something that may hint at XLN still being alive and investigating it until the very end. He sees the house, goes inside and asks whether anyone lives there, discovers that it's been organised in the same way that he used to know it from the tomb and continuing on and finding even more things that reminded him of his days in the tomb. In the end, he finds no-one, breaks down and bawwws himself, only to be comforted by XLN in the exact same way that she used. If they just ended it there you'd think he was hallucinating. NONE of the adaptions done so far have come close to this, which is a real shame.

    A little OT:

I've seen all sorts of Japanese anime... But I always think of RoCH when I hear this song:

Sounds like heroic pursuit(s) of YG + XLN to right the wrongs in the world...

Anyways it comes from the anime Karas... Coincidentally the main characters in this anime are the ones that most resemble XLN + YG in any and all Japanese works I've seen to date:

Now that I think about it some more... the reason why Karas so closely resembles RoCH is coz the girl is the Master and the guy is her apprentice. Plus the guy cherishes girl Master v much like YG cherishes XLN. This is prob the only J-anime I'd recommend to any1, most ones I've seen.... ew!

Karas ep 1 (Just think of it as Old Karas [Yang Kang] getting killed off and needs a new Karas [Yang Guo] to take his place):

I went to the library to read Chapter 39 but it wasn't as beautiful as you claim... It's about various rooms in the hut that are replica of ancient-tomb but stone furniture replaced with crude-wood. Including wardrobe with a tree-bark clothing meant for child-sized YangGuo.

I didn't find any sentence that point to YG giving up hope that she is dead or the hut outlived the creator. He cried because all the replica rings a bell to his memory.

Only 1 page in the novel.

i dont think learned martial arts make you automatically become carpenter, those are different skill and talent.

in Fox novel, only 1 person can climb snow cliff, which is Hu Fei, even the buddha face Miao Renfeng cannot do that , we can say that was a special ability of Hu Fei, the best climber in Jin Yong universe

What? So you want to keep watching the same storyline over and over again? You don't want new storyline?

But what's wrong is NOT have ANY abilities to craft ORIGINAL good TV series like Jin Yong works, everything other than JinYong pales in comparison.

THAT, is what's VERY VERY VERY wrong with China!

There is something wrong if they keep making remake every few years. The audiences want something new. There are thousand of wuxia novels from other authors that haven't adapt into serials yet. Other novels are not as popular as JY's but doesn't mean they are not good.
