The novel's version of the reunion is incredibly beautiful in the way that it makes you question whether the whole thing was even real until it flat out says that it was. It gives you a kind of feeling that YG is losing hope pretty much the whole way only to be led further on because he sees something that may hint at XLN still being alive and investigating it until the very end. He sees the house, goes inside and asks whether anyone lives there, discovers that it's been organised in the same way that he used to know it from the tomb and continuing on and finding even more things that reminded him of his days in the tomb. In the end, he finds no-one, breaks down and bawwws himself, only to be comforted by XLN in the exact same way that she used. If they just ended it there you'd think he was hallucinating. NONE of the adaptions done so far have come close to this, which is a real shame.
